E.J.'s sketchbook

I think these are fully painted textures (including the shading) done in Krita.

Could be! Sort of looked like vertex paint at first.

It’s vertex paint, all 3D done in blender. It’s my sketchbook thread, which means any and all art I’m involved in doing can be posted on it… at least that’s what the spirit of the first sketchbook threads are that appeared in conceptart.org, the originator of sketchbook threads.

Hi

I’m not sure

krita-artists is aimed to host Krita’s artwork or Krita’s related things.
There’s can be exception from time to time I think if there’s a good reason for that, but it should not be considered as a generality just because of sketchbook category works like this or like that on other sites.

You can read Code of Conduct, bullet 9

One reason is, krita-artists is hosted by volunteers with their own money and all costs (especially storage costs) are supported by them.

I think it your link points to different tab that is terms of service. (on another note I have tried to correct the naming of this code of conduct URL but my efforts are in vain :frowning: )

Here is the point

  • Post Only Artwork Done With Krita Since this is a Krita forum you may not post anything that is not done in Krita or at least used Krita as complementary tool for example while doing a 3D artwork with blender. The majority of the work should be done in Krita. There is an exception for Traditional category, where you can post artwork done only with traditional mediums.

You’re right, i’ve fixed it, thanks

Not happy with the result?
I assume it’s the face, since in my opinion it doesn’t quite keep up with the ones you showed earlier, and the rest looks pretty nice.

If you want some suggestions, I couldn’t resist to use this one too on my eternal quest to learn how to paint good faces… (somehow it’s much easier to mess with other people’s paintings than trying to fix your own ones  )

My wife and I both think it is awesome. If I could sketch like that, I would be really happy.

ohh thanks guys for being positive. In order to finish this project, I had to push off the most important art project of the season; Christmas presents. Now my December is going to be stressful trying to finish those. I shouldn’t have done the competition. I told myself not to do it… but I got tempted because there were too many good submissions. So yeah, that’s why I’m sad… I was stressing to finish the piece… then I felt like the end result doesn’t justify my continuing stress, lol

Oh well, live and learn.

Hey Edgar!

Are you feeling any better about it now?

I hear your frustration and understand why it’s added to your stress.

I’m glad you joined in though - It would have been a shame to leave it half-done after doing such a nice lineart.

Don’t forget you are important too. You felt passionate about continuing to work on this, and that passion is what makes you an artist.

It is a nice picture - especially the decorative elements. I’ve noticed that seems to be a particularly strong element in your work; The fantasy motorbike design is a particular favourite, but also the plasterwork and wood carving in other examples above.

If you’re not happy with the finish you can always come back to it later when you have more time and less stress.

Thanks Myth. The image is fine, I just really hated the whole process because it dragged on longer than I expected.

I have made a study of this photo (https://www.pexels.com/photo/woman-wearing-crop-top-looking-up-11072750/) twice already and every single time I’ve done it, my paintings end up looking really bad. I need more practice with drawing/painting faces in odd angles
