I have a 2 in 1 laptop that comes with a pen. I’m trying to activate a option that only captures the pen and not my hand/arm, so that the drawing doesn’t get all messy.
Is that an option, or do I have to dig out my old digitalizer tablet?

Hello and welcome to the forum 
There’s a option in Settings → Configure Krita → General → Tools tab, it’s the Enable Touch Painting option and that should be disabled.
Your operating system settings may also have palm/touch rejection settings.
