Exclude layers from color sampler?

I could swear there was a way to have the color sampler pick only from layers tagged with a certain colour, …

I’m sure that was asked for in a ‘feature request’ topic (or mentioned as a complaint somewhere) fairly recently

"Color Labeled Layers" sample option for Color Sampler Tool - Feature request

I’m really surprised it doesn’t already exist, so I’d like to feature request “Color Labeled Layers” sample option for Color Sampler Tool. Both the Fill Tool and Similar Color Selection Tool already has this option. Reason I find it important, is that if I’m working on an alternative layer to the actual base or layer from which I’d like to sample, I can’t select the actual color I want if there as been for instance other layers with shades, blends, highlights etc added on top of it.
