Folder-Style Thumbnails for Group Layers in the Layers Panel

In the layers panel, it’d be very helpful visually if Group layers could have the option for a folder thumbnail (similar to photoshop)…

I use a lot of layers and groups in my work, the thumbnail of the group is already small and for me not very helpful to tell at a glance what it is, i know there is a tiny group icon next to the thumbnail, it’d be great if that could just replace the thumbnail image. (I dont find the current thumbnail of the layer contents helpful most of the time, i have to read the layer name and look at the smaller icons etc, transitioning from photoshop I find their layer/group thumbnails much easier to read at a glance)

You mean a giant folder icon instead of the composite image of the groups content? I can’t remember how it is in PS, haven’t used it in over a decade.

And why don’t you use indentation instead? It is far more visible than any icon, because you can adjust its strength, or depth, via the hamburger menu of the Layers Docker, and you won’t lose the group’s composite picture:

Thanks! - I didn’t know about the indention, that does work pretty well.

Probably good enough to cover this request really. Although I suppose the caveat is that you will need to make the layers panel pretty wide if you use groups a lot.

Not knowing if you checked it already, you can continuously adjust the indentation, so how much space is needed is up to you.
