The defaults will be there, we can give different name like  to get the new ones there is a input box in the settings to upload file along with the shortcut name. So user can either use the shortcut name we choose or choose the emoji from the emoji selectors
Haaan great ![]()
I was thinking it was a replacement ![]()
Addition mode is really cool ![]()
I’m not a designer but for an emoji being readable at 20pixels size I think it might be something really simple:
- just shapes, no outlines
- flat colors, no gradients
- few colors (maybe 4, 5 colors max)
Grum999
Yes, that’s exactly what I thought!
I have a couple of ideas on this, so I’ll be sure to send more options ![]()

I agree with @Grum999. The standard ones are very easy to recognize, the new set has to be designed with that in mind. I often see the same on mastodon, some servers have custom emojis and half the time I can’t figure out what they supposed to mean.
With Kiki’s design, it’s quite difficult to make an emoji as her design is quite simple and complex. I have to avoid unnecessary detail and not turn it into the most ordinary circle.
There may be a way to sit between two chairs, but I don’t know how yet…
I have a perfect emoji set in mind. I’ll have to work on it when I get home.
this are perfect for discord and twitch .
I think for kiki to work in 20x20 [thats tiny icon ;A;] minimize shadow, headshape is almost circle, minimize color to 1 accent + white / black.
Wonderful designs so far :3 kinda sad they dont work well shrunk. i wish they can be used somewhere else.
Edit looking forward to @Grum999
emoji.
A trick to preview what an icon might look like at a small size as you draw: open a new document at the small size (20x20), import the image as a File Layer, and set the File Layer’s scaling option property to “Scale to Image Size”. Though, you can’t change the scaling method used, and it might be different from however the emojis are scaled by the forum.
And an observation regarding emoji/emoticon design; at small sizes, it’s easiest to read simple exaggerated shapes and colors. In other words, to think about the shape volumes instead of outlines.
I have one! I’m making more of these so I have this right now.
Regular expression emojis, but with the Krita gradient!

Works amazing, doesn’t it? ![]()
Well, it did say in @raghukamath’s post that the emoji can be Kiki or something related to art and Krita.
besides I haven’t drawn a squirrel before ![]()
No problem ![]()
big face are really cool!
but at 20pixels, it’s not understandable
problem I think with Kiki here is there’s no contrast between face, hair, mouth…
maybe be:
- avoid ears
- put hairs in another color (pastel blue or pink for example)
- no nose, one color only for eyes
- mouth is black
Quick and dirty example from your emoji (made with a mouse
):

It’s more “readable” but result is not… great (looks like Rei Ayanami here) ![]()
Maybe from your original artwork it will be easier to rework it to something more simple and more pretty ![]()

Hey Grum, is my emoji okay?
Yes, idea is good ![]()
Not sure we need to get a complete set of emoji with Krita colors, but maybe the 5~10 most interesting emoji face emotion could be provided.
But this need a feedback from @raghukamath in all case ![]()
For proposals I think it could be better to provide it in table like this:
| Code | Picture |
|---|---|
 |
Grum999
Whoooa. Okay! I can definitely try that!
How did you make the table example?
Like this:
| Code | Picture |
| --- | --- |
| `` | |
Grum999
Maybe a good approach would be to make them at 20x20px to see what works and then make the 72x72px version based on that.
If the size is problematic, may be we can also experiment with custom sizes. Here is the :kikiexcited: emoji
![]()
That’s better like this ! ![]()
If bigger size could be used for forum defined emoji, maybe it’s the best choice to do
And keep usual 20x20 for usual emoji
