Hi, is anyone else having this problem with the transformation tool?

I’ve been having several issues with Krita in terms of performance; I reported some of them quite a while ago, but I’m just now wondering if it’s just me.

Anyway, the problem is this: when you use Liquify and then Free Transform, the Free Transform doesn’t work properly—it’s slow.

i cannot recreate the bug, i`ve folowed your steps, no matter how often i change, apply, reselect, undo a selection the performance doest degrade a bit

I can not say, that I have the same pattern, but I do have performance spikes, where the whole transform tool is slow. So not only after liquify but in general. But then something funny happens. Krita freezes and after that freez, which I asume happens on you video too, the transform tool runs smooth. I am confused.

No, in my case, it sometimes causes Krita to crash. It doesn’t happen every time, but it does happen.

 Do you use Windows 11?

I use bouth Linux and Windows and with no issue.

However on my tab S9 I do see a small performance issue similar to your’s with the same steps, not major but definitely noticeable then before

On my end, only liquify has awful performance but the resource spike doesn’t seem drastic at the same time. Wonder if maybe it’s just anything to do with transforming the content on canvas, since FX brushes are also noticeably laggy (while other things perform normally).

The Liquify tool was supposed to have been improved, but it seems that in the end, while performance did improve, it ruined other parts.

By the way, I hadn’t realized that I reported this same bug back in January in that thread, and it’s been half a year with no response.

That’s the problem—it might not seem like a big deal to many people, but I really can’t keep opening and closing files just to get the same performance from the transformation tool every time I use the Liquify tool. Sometimes it freezes, and other times Krita crashes—it’s really annoying.

Yes, i noticed this issue when Instant Preview mode active for Transform Tool (in Krita settings) and canvas using not full LOD of image (with low zoom level).

It becomes dramatically slow it it has this settings enabled after liquify using.

So my STR are:

  1. setup test project - 10k x 10k image with layer filled with something (for saturation of issue effect)
  2. disable all instant preview settings
  3. try free transform tool - it is fast enough (with fast mode or accurate with preview)
  4. apply change. try then liquify
  5. try transform tool again - it is still same fast
  6. safe project
  7. restart krita
  8. open project. enable all instant preview settings in performance settings and in view menu
  9. try free transform tool - it is fast enough (but slower compared with disabled instant preview in settings)
  10. apply changes. then try liquify, apply change (liquify here becomes insanely slow already)
  11. try then free transform tool - it becomes slower ~x5 or even more compared to previous case before liqiphy transform
