Hi all! I was wondering if anyone had advice on creating animations/animatics. I’ve heard people talk about FFmpeg (I think that’s what it’s called). I was wondering because I would like to be able to make little animatics for my social media once I start posting.
What size of canvas do I need for making videos for a vertical format (such as YouTube Shorts)?
Is there any video making software I need to download?
Any tips and or advice you’d give to a complete novice as far as animating is concerned?
I’m not an animator, but FFmpeg is a thing you don’t need to care about much anymore, at least not as much as in the past, since Krita now comes with FFmpeg embedded into Krita.
So you just need to select the output format you want to export into and adjust other settings in regard to your requirements like size, framerate or such.
The next thing is the chapter about animation in Krita’s manual, it is well written and very helpful and informative, for a beginner this is a must-read! You can find it here:
Although I don’t like YouTube, but it is a very good source for tutorials, and you will find a lot of tutorials about animation with Krita, so in this case is Google your friend.
I haven’t checked Krita’s YouTube-channel, but I guess it is worth a look, and that you could find information about animation there too.
For any further questions, you can use this topic or the forum in general.
You don’t need to worry about FFMPEG on the currently latest release of Krita anymore, it is built in.
Evey Website (Youtube, Instagram, etc) usually has a Help page where you can look this up.
It depends, you can make hand drawn animations in Krita and if they’re short clips you probably don’t need much more. If you need more capabilities than just drawing, and want to edit some clips, Kdenlive is a free video cutting tool that can do a lot of stuff.
So, I figured out that after saving the animation file, I need to move it to some form of video maker, but I don’t think my computer has one (I have Windows 10 because my computer’s a bit old, but I’m gonna upgrade when I can). Does anyone have any good recommendations for a free and good video making software?
