How could I switch to another brush but keep the current brush size?
There is a ‘lock’ feature, but it seems to lock the whole brush tip settings, instead of just size:
As far as I know, the brush size is assigned to each brush preset, not globally to the project.
If you have “Temporarily save tweaks to presets” checked in the brush editor, you will only have to set the size once for each preset during a painting session and the brush will retain the size you assigned.
My use case is like this:
- I’m painting large chunks of colors with brush A, at 100px
- I switch to brush B to blend, at 100px as well
- Then I paint some details with brush A again. Of course 100px is too large for detailing so I need to decrease the size of brush. Say to 20px.
- Then I switch to brush B to blend again. But now it’s still at 100px
Is it possible to switch to brush B but keep the size of 20px at step 4?
I see what you mean. But since brush size is attached to the brush preset and not any kind of global setting, I don’t think there’s any way to do that - but I’m certainly not a dev so I’m commenting as a user.
There is a plugin you might want to look at. I don’t use it myself so I can’t comment on how well it works but it might offer a bit of a workaround for you.

I’m not sure, but perhaps the Buli Brush Switch plugin is able to do it, it’s found in our resource category.
