Huion Keydial problem

Maybe off topic, but I have issues with mine, I have Ctrl shift A programmed but it does not work, as with num + and num - For zoom. and the dial is not very useful either.
I also did the same with a keydial image. Except I use the reference image.

That was off-topic so I’ve moved it to a new topic with a suitable category.

Just to clarify something - there are two versions of the Huion Keydial: the K20 and the KD100. The original post artwork was just a photo of the KD100 with text added to each key button. The reason why I mention it is, I had a problem with the original KD100 unit and recently replaced it with the K20.

My KD100 had a defective key. One of the keys would not accept new programming. It was long out of warranty so I just opted to buy the newer K20. Both units are physically/functionally the same except the K20 uses wireless Bluetooth to communicate with the host PC vs a USB dongle/transceiver for the KD100.

I was looking around for alternatives. There are fancier programmable keypad models out there. Some have LED displays under each key button which makes labelling the functions a bit nicer. They are also quite a bit more expensive. I opted to stay with Huion because I was more or less OK with my Windows desktop icon hack. I use a dual monitor setup so having the Huion Keydial icon on the second monitor works just fine for me. Also, Huion includes the Keydial driver inside the pen display driver so you only have to install one driver for both products. And one last comment: I have my Keydial permanently wired via USB to my host PC. I found the recharge/battery business to be a bit klunky. The internal battery doesn’t last all that long and I’m not moving my setup so it was simpler to just leave it permanently attached via the USB port on the side of my pen display.

In response to your problems: I have one of the buttons programmed for CTRL+SHIFT+S and it works fine so I’m not sure why CTRL+SHIFT+A would be a problem but I might suggest this: check the keyboard mapping setup in the Krita Settings/Configure Krita/Keyboard shortcuts to make sure C+S+A isn’t being used for something else.

I never use the dial. Never. I didn’t find it that useful either. I can make faster, more precise movements with the stylus and a keypad button.

Hi, this device unfortunately doesn’t support key chords (e.g. like SHIFT+something). This is a big limitation, in my opinion.

As far as I know, there’s no workaround for this.

EDIT: See my post below, looks like this issue is now rectified either with the updated driver or the firmware. My testing was with KD100 model.

Not true. I have various combinations of SHIFT/CTRL/ALT in use. They all work fine but again, I’m now using the K50 model and the latest driver. Here’s an icon screenshot of the latest layout programming I’m using. All combinations shown work perfectly. The button labeled X is used to show an on-screen display of the Keydial along with the recent programming settings (kind of a dumbed-down version of my colorful icon)

Hi, thanks for letting me know there are actually multiple models of KeyDial! My device is KD100 model.

I could swear multiple keys didn’t work before, but I tested it right now and now they do work. I can set one of the keys as CTRL+ and another key as A and it will indeed trigger CTRL+A when I press both. The keys do seem a bit picky with registering though, so that’s a bit annoying.

I’m not sure what changed, if the device updated the firmware over time, or is it due to a different driver version, but I can confirm the chords (key rollover) is working as of today with KD100.

Here are my driver details:
Windows 11 23H2 - Huion driver v15.7.6.634
Mini KeyDial KD100 firmware - T200_210309

Thanks, I have been experimenting, I just started using it so I am figuring out the nuances. I do appreciate your response!

First time on here, I was searching for keydial issues and this one was in the list.

Thanks
