v2/v3?

I can’t say which one you can choose v3 but it depends on you. I do not know more details about it.

Thanks a lot

Welcome to my club

In general the licence of your plugin should match the licence of Qt. Since it is a major influencer.

Here is the long topic discussing this issue in more details: Developing Commercial Plugins

It might be a bit off topic here. But since you have released commercial plugin with GPL license , May I know your experience in doing that. Were there any hindrances?

Maybe it’s not a “commercial” plug-in, but when I used Krita and WeChat at the same time, the F22 key pressed by WeChat was never released, which caused Krita’s shortcut keys to fail. I just wrote a plugin to block the F22 key event on the app and shared it for people who also use WeChat.

Hi

A subject that is not simple… :upside_down_face:

If the plugin is dependant of Qt (without Qt the plugin can’t work), it needs to be under a GPL or LGPL license

Please be advised that some parts of Qt are only provided under GPL for open source users, not under LGPL. Using these GPL licensed framework libraries requires your application or device to be licensed under GPL, as well. All parts that are licensed under LGPL are also available under GPL, thus you have access to almost all Qt framework functionality, as well as development and design tooling, under GPL.

There’s also a commercial license of Qt if you don’t want to provide your work under an open source license (but you have to buy this Qt commercial license I think)

If the plugin is dependant of Krita (without Krita the plugin can’t work) then, as Krita is released under GPL, the plugin must be under GPL or GPL-compatible license

I assume you are referring this question to me

I would say it is not blooming, hoverver I have a few professionals who were willing to try my products and have found it useful.

It is difficult to estimate the reason behind small sales. My guess there are several factors that might impact it:

  1. Th plugin does not solve artist’s pains and/or not provide gains.
  2. Low quality of pluguns that are bing sold.
  3. There are not a lot of professionals who are actually ising Krita to earn money.
  4. The nature of Krita attracts note people who are used to get thing for free
