I like oil painting, and now I’m starting to use Android tablets to start digital painting. after I found this community, I’m so happy that a lot of good artists are here.
and as a beginner, I’m still getting used to krita. now I can’t find the “wet blending mode”, this mode is mentioned in some topics. can someone help me and teach me how to use it? because blending the color is important in oil painting. thank you. I still don’t know how to blend color in krita
Hello @Vio and welcome to the forum!
In case you refer to this topic: Wet Alpha - new blending mode, I have to disappoint you, the developer who began it has obviously decided to turn his back to Krita and stopped development of this blending mode, as he points out in this post: Wet Alpha - new blending mode - #88 by SirPigeonz.
Or do you talk about this topic: ColorPlus: a plugin to simulate watercolor painting, if so, you don’t need an Android device for using it, but a real PC since Android is not capable running it because Google does not allow apps to start other apps, so it disallows Krita to use Python to start plugins.
But anyway, such a blending mode does not exist what doesn’t mean you can not use watercolor in Krita, there are a lot of watercolor brushes for Krita, also extra bundles you can install which offer a lot more watercolor brush presets than Krita ships with.

thank you for replying Michelist
I mean the effect like this how can I achieve it?
https://krita-artists.org/t/rotating-light-brushtips-wip/64930/5?u=vio
ah so you mean it’s not possible to do this with oil painting brushes on krita now?
so besides oil painting, do you mean that some water color painting brushes can achieve color blending like realistic painting? if so, can you recommend some brushes for me? thank you very much!
The effect mentioned in your linked posting is exactly about the project from the topic I linked at first in my above posting, this means that kind of mixing will not come to Krita, at least not in any foreseeable future. But it exists a working prototype of it for Windows (and perhaps for Linux too, you could read to that topic to discover any prototypes offered there). And I believe that someone recently meant to build something similar to the topic you linked to. But how long it takes is unknown to me.
And: It was a funny coincidence that in your example someone used these “oil painting” brush presets with that blending mode, in principle you can use any brush preset with (nearly) any blending mode. The problem here is, that this kind of “real life color mixing” in digital is not easy and not natural for digital, it is only something you are used to from real life, but you can achieve any color with digital too, sometimes the way is different.
I just checked my archive of prototype versions of Krita, and there are currently three different versions offering blending modes that go in that direction. And as mentioned above, maybe soon there comes a build of Krita that will offer this kind of mixing too AND could make it into Main-Krita, what then will be in Android too. But since it currently only seems to be a project of a voluntary dev, I can not tell anything about any timeline or even a deadline, nothing, I’m only sure someone tries to implement it currently.
In general, you can say, you will get your hands on such developments with a much higher probability using a PC with Linux, Windows or macOS, because so far nothing got out of the development phase. Their chance to see and get such developments far earlier than using Android is extreme, and I’m not speaking of weeks or months, I mean years.

Realistic painting? What is that? It is only a construct in your brain, your mind, that you are used to, nothing more. To achieve such color blending in the current Krita, you have to work with tricks and select your colors beforehand when painting in such cases in order to bring it successively onto the canvas in a painterly way.
And as I said, someone has said they want to work on such an implementation now, just time periods and such, or if the person will be able to do this and finish it are unknown to me, but apparently all the formulas needed exist and are also compatible with Krita’s license. But I’ve seen far too many declarations of intent here to say, “Yes, it’s coming!”.
And on the other hand, there are many watercolor brushes for Krita, or if you were using a PC, you could use the plugin from my second link, that’s pretty damn realistic, just doesn’t work with Android.

yesok~ thank you so much~
maybe I can try to start from some tutorials for krita and learn how to use color better here in this app. because for now I travel a lot so Android tablet is easier for me to take it with me.
YouTube is a good source for tutorials. You probably may want to bookmark or subscribe to the Krita channel where you get information from those who make and support Krita, also a very good channel for learning Krita is Blade & Quill from our forum member @CelticCoco.
But if you are searching for any kind of information in form of a tutorial, just use YouTube’s search box on top of the YouTube pages, usually you’ll drown in hits on the most requests, then you only have to pick out those you find interesting.

@Vio,
according to the example you posted, it ssems you like the mixing and the impasto style shown there.
Maybe the Memileo brush bundle is interesting for you.
thank you so much
And for watercolor, you may want to check out @Pesi’s bundle:
You can call his Set of Watercolor Brushes the reference for those that follow.
Jackpack (+Realwater) Legacy Brushes is a download of two more watercolor bundles loved for their abilities
In @Ico-dY’s paid bundle-collection, over 500 brush presets for about ~€/$8 and more than worth its price, you’ll find 65 presets for watercolor:
Krita 5.x “Expansion” + “Extra” Bundles it can be obtained here:
or one of @RamonM’s:
WATERC stylus and mouse
respective this:
water_color_brushes_for_mice
additionally we have @PeacockGolden’s:
Hearts & Watercolor Brushes!
GrindGod (Vasco Alexander Basque) offered two interesting downloads, a collection of bundles containing a watercolor bundle and a loose collection of brush tips and brush presets that you would have to import one by one, at least theoretically, because I made a bundle out of this collection - the license allows it.
You can get both downloads from my cloud, both include the needed licenses and copies of the source website for reference and legal issues. And while we are at the legal things, I have to inform you that the bundle collection contains furthermore 2 Patterns by Ico-dY and 2 Brushes by LJFHutch, now everything is said and done to make these downloads legal:
In case you have a (free) DeviantArt account, you can download GrindGod’s brushes from there, if you prefer that. The Krita Watercolor Set V1.01
is found on DA via this link., but that is not a bundle, the bundle you can only get via my download above. ↑
And GrindGod’s bundle-collection Krita Modular Brushset v5
contains a small watercolor bundle among other bundles.
and @CrazyCatBird’s:
Leafy watercolor brush
or this bundle from @tachiko:
Two brushes, with some departure from a watercolor brush
There are more bundles containing brush presets for painting in watercolor style, but in my eyes those I’ve listed here are currently the best you can get.
