I want to be able to download various fonts from tbe net and import them into Krita. I have tried to select the “A” insert word and scroll down the list of fonts where it says “Add fonts” and added my downloaded font which is added to the list. But the problem is it doesn’t show up in real time when you select the font? It stays standard font Even when you select it. This is a major floor and deal breaker for me using this software and lam sure alit of others as well. Graphic design programs such as photoshop have fixed this issue and l am just bringing it to your attention because your software is great and would be even better with this glitch fixed. I use it for designing but cant use it any more due to this floor. Could you please tell the development team to fix this. Thanks very much. Great software apart from this.
Try ShapesAndLayers plugin, Font Manager lets you import fonts in realtime or assign another directory to hotload fonts realtime.
Or simply install the fonts in your operating system, then they are available in Krita too, and as a benefit you can use them system-wide…

They are asking for real time font loading. Loading them up in the OS sounds nice in theory, but you have to restart Krita with every font you load. This can be troublesome when you are picking out all kinds of fonts.
If someone works a lot with fonts, whether as a hobby, professionally, or semi-professionally, then this person should use a good font manager, and not have to try out font after font in Krita.
With such a software you can view complete font collections, compare fonts, see how a font looks in different sizes, italic, bold and underlined. You can view, categorize, catalog, install and uninstall fonts individually or en bloc. Some of these tools are able to make fonts available only temporarily (something that the “ShapesAndLayers Plugin” also offers). This way you can prevent Windows from cluttering up/slowing down your computer over a longer period of time, because after the next reboot such provided fonts are no longer available.
And if these fonts are available system-wide, then you don’t create an isolated solution, which in this case only works in Krita, could continue editing with these fonts in other applications.
The fact that your “ShapesAndLayers Plugin” version 0.09 with Krita 5.0.6 on Windows 10, as the only one of your plugins, does not want to work, at least on my current Krita installations, apart from showing and hiding Docker headers, does not let me evaluate its capabilities. I will try an older version later, possibly this one will work.

Add: I have now tested the 0.08. The font functions are available, you can read the fonts of a single directory, their display in the “ShapesAndLayers Plugin” requires me to use the screen magnifier to judge the fonts (4k monitor). With my collection of thousands of fonts it is more than overwhelmed, subfolders are not even read. In conclusion, it is a workaround, but not a tool to work seriously, let alone professionally, with fonts. To address your example of picking fonts, already with my collection the “ShapesAndLayers Plugin” is impractical, with the tens of thousands of fonts collection of a graphic design studio I know, specializing in advertising, it is no longer useful to use. You would be drowning in fonts.
In my opinion it is not practical to install excessive fonts. In many cases, the difference between one font and another is minimal, only designers would notice the difference.
In some fonts, especially free ones, there are spacing issues, with some characters being spaced too far apart.
When the font was only used in logo, I preferred to vectorize it, as I would spend much more time looking for the font on the internet (sometimes uselessly…).
Therefore, tools are used that make fonts available, instead of installing them…
…next reboot, and they are gone…

Where is that shapes and layers plug in located
Windows doesn’t always cooperate. An example: I used to put the fonts in the “Downloads” folder and then copy them to the “Fonts” folder. When I was going to delete the fonts from the “Downloads” folder, Windows didn’t allow it and returned the message that they were being “used by the system”.
I don’t know if this still happens, it’s been a long time since I installed fonts…
You have to install it first.
@KnowZero introduced the “ShapesAndLayers Plugin” here, you can download it from here (is a direct download link), as mentioned above at least I have problems with my system to use the current 0.09, it may be different for you.
If you can’t use it for font usage in Krita, like me, then try the 0.07 (also a direct download), it works for me with it. The 0.08 seems to be not officially available. And if the 0.07 don’t do the trick, here you can find the rest of them.
The easiest way to install plugins in Krita is via ‘‘Tools’’ >> ‘‘Scripts’’ >> ‘‘Import Python Plugin from File…’’, then enter the path to the plugin in the dialog that opens (the ZIP files you just downloaded) and confirm it, confirm the next dialog too, then restart Krita and, depending on the plugin, set up the plugin to your liking.
You can find the manual in Krita under ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Configure Krita’’ >> ‘‘Python Plugin Manager’’ and there click on the entry of the plugin. Unfortunately, not every plugin author is kind enough to provide the instructions.

Addendum: @Guerreiro64, so what? This is Microsoft, what do you expect? I’ve probably already encountered most of the pitfalls, the important thing is to know the ways around them.
Font managers are great and all, but when you add styling and other stuff to a font, it may not come out how one expects it to come out. The goal is to first view the font normally, then once you pick a font you load it up in the font manager and test it. If you don’t like it, move on to next font until you find the one you like. The goal of it was mostly to hotswap fonts for testing.
v0.09 should work, but there was a thing where it would show only new fonts added and not the fonts in the dir. I applied a patch and it should work now.
I also added another convenience button, the “Apply” button. Now you can apply the font to any text shape directly from the font manager.
