If youâre looking for volunteers, Iâll do some testing.
You are in my list then. Thanks
From that sheet, nÂș 26 looks so fun, probably my favorite of the bunch, followed by 11, 12 and 15. I have some pens with some similar texture, they make such great fillers.
The last one in donât really enjoy, mainly due to personal preference. Round(ed) brushes for pens seems to lack some grain, and in some cases some sharpness. Do they have some texture on it? They appear to be round brushes with ratio and some scatter, perhaps?
Do you plan to release as bundle, similar to other packs?
Looking forward to these, Ramon. Beautiful work as always.
Thanks for the feedback. I notice you like a lot textured things. The last one uses the mypaint engine, no texture available there. And is not as flexible as others but I feel it very good for mimicing old cartoon style.
I take note about your preferences. Thanks.
And about bundle⊠I think I donât have enough feedback yet
I came back to take another look at #9. Ooph. I think I am lusting after this pen.
When sketching with a black ballpoint pen, I love it when that little blob of excess ink asserts itself into the drawing. #9 is the first ink brush Iâve seen that might deliver that little jolt of excitement that comes from dealing with an unexpected mark.
Hi @RamonM,
I love what you do and I was just starting to get into inking comics when you posted this, so thank you!
When I try to ink with dynamic brushes, I donât get as nice of an intuitive feel for them due to their design.
For example, I get thin lines and when I press a little harder, it immediately goes into a dot and then thicker line with a bit of a blur. The lines donât feel smooth and seem bumpy sometimes, even while maintaining the same pressure.
In regards to inking brushes, I love the look and feel of this drawing and I was curious to know if there are brushes that can be made to quickly ink an illustration while feeling easy to use and intuitive.
I also wanted to if it was possible to maintain the texture of the brushes but also make it easier to color when using Kritaâs Enclose and Fill tool since textured lineart brushes cause this effect; where the color does not stay inside of the lineart, even when the settings are changed, it does not fill in neatly.
Thank you for your help and for always keeping us all in mind.
@URAVERAGEBOI The blue one is to mimic the cheap pen called Bic Blue color. I will review that, because there is already a brush called Pilot in the the set. Donât worry ![]()
@LaTor , About your pressure issue It could be your Global pressure settings and the your tablet brand. Also the General Curve in Tabletâs graph controller. (The app that comes with the driver.). Also the setting in the brush is important. I need more info as you see sorry.
About he image , is really cool, but as Joe Kubert said " The secret to become a good inker is repetition and patience. I am learning in this field too yet.
And about enclose and fill i would use the lineart as a reference to create my flats. But i will take into account. A good point. Because i have brushes with a nice visual fade like âwastedâ, Maybe they are not the best to perfect filled areas. ![]()
anyway i keep my journey.
Ok here we go with the first bundle. Is in WIP mode so no cover, good thumbs or tags. All the brushes has 2023 as prefix. Except some that are located in the texture section. So now let me explain what i need for a good feedback.
-
I need to know your tablet, why? because recently I purchase a supercheap Huion H580x and my feel of pressure is different with my 2 wacoms.
-
Is important how you have your GLOBAL curve in of pressure in settings/Configure Krita and speed. (mine is 6 but yours can be different. If you change it please let me know the new value there⊠I have my settings like this.
My settings in Huion H580x -
Last release of Krita 5.1.5 and a lot of good vibes about this new bundle.
-
I would like to show some samples to show how the Kritaâs community interact in development and put some samples in a future video for Inktober 2023 so if you are interested go, and test it.
-
Tilt is important this time. IF you donât have tilt, you can test it too , but results will not be the same.
-
Nothing is written on stone. The goal is to give Krita EXPRESSIVE ink not only for Manga, but children book illustration and European style. So explore , invent, and share. We wil grow as community.

And remember I am able to do this type of thing because i love Krita and Krita funds me. so if you are helping in that field , thanks.

So now is your turn and enjoy. Remember you need Tilt and Speed is important here.

Those brushes are great. I downloaded them but didnât have the time to try all yet. So is tilt a must for most of them? If so, will there be a âtiltlessâ version of the preset? (for the needy artist without the tilt function?)
Too bad I have no tilt on my âoldâ Huion Tablet.
The brushes work quite well for me (without tilt). As I donât have the tilt function on my xp-pen deco 01 tablet, I am not able to test it. As for now I look forward for the progress of the ink brushes.
Thank you so far Ramon!
Ok, as not too much people seems to be intesrested and give detailed feedback. I will postpone this.
Maybe more will give feedback soon. ![]()

@RamonM Iâm interested in doing testing but I donât have tilt function on my tablet. The testing instructions mentioned that tilt was important.
I drew this, sorry if itâs something small I wanted to do something quick.
This is my pressure curve, I use Krita 5.1.5 and my tablet is a Huion H320M with tilt support.
These were the brushes I used, the tilt works great and I like it.
The bic helped me a lot both to make a very simple sketch and to detail various parts.
The rest I used to define, outline and add texture.
I have yet to test all the others thoroughly, although there are certainly some that I wouldnât know how to use ![]()
Salvete! First, want to mention that ink is not my medium, nor digitally nor traditionally. But I do sketch, so ig i can say something after all. These brushes did some wonder to me because for last years i had trouble to sit and actually even doodle something, but today i spent several hours with these brushes till my back started to hurt from scoliosis. ![]()
Anyway, to the point:
XP-Pen Artist 16 Pro (Old gen; tilt is kinda snappy at some angles but is here)
Krita 5.1.5
Stabilization OFF
Resolution is pretty low, potato pc ![]()
The brush names are written around the doodle that were drawn with it. Not all brushes present on image.
Also couldnât find any brushes that arenât â2023â prefix, but maybe that cuz i got more than thousand brushes overall,
- â2023 bic penâ brush is gold, love, simple, amazing, cures depression.
- âDot Ink/Control/Control Patâ personally individually subjectively not sure how to use these, maybe for stripes, but i like my brushes more soft and textured;
- âInk Big Brushâ true CLASSIC, i lack skill to appreciate it fully.
- âInk Brush (mypaint) Copyâ a simple brush with built-in stabilizer, not for me but i knew plenty of people who were keeping their PaintToolSai settings on S-7(crazy people ik).
- âInk Brush (mypaint) v2â very good non-round brush.
- âInk Burnâ it appears very sharply-pixilated to me? But when zoom out and low res screen blurs it looks pretty good.
- âInk Gaps Children BIGâ at first wasnât sure about it, but sardines-can-from-memory on the right upper corner speaks for themselves.
- âInk Medium Brushâ similar to Big brush but more texture, love that.
- âPen Basic Multiplyâ domesticated bic pen, a must-have.
- âInk PEntelâ nice, very stripey when low pressure.
- âInk PEntel copyâ kinda too crispy personally, but ig someone else will like.
- âInk Pentel pocketâ turns into surprisingly fun-to-draw-with lineart brush at low sizes.
- âInk R Big ROUND Wasted 2â love at first sight. Tho at max pressure it gets very basic-brush like sharp edges, but thatâs not that big problemo, especially if your pen sensitivity isnât sky high.
- âInk R Big ROUND Wasted okâ not really sure whatâs the difference with previous one, maybe im delusional but it seems to have slightly softer texture.
- âInk Rake Bigâ i personally donât like the lines, but that noise color effect is really cool.
- âInk Rake Dustyâ again that pixelization, doesnât really blends with the rest to me;
- âInk ROUGH BIGâ unfortunately most likely due to high pressure sensitivity this brush and several like ones turn into max pitch black squares without much window to show texture. Pretty much entire âROUGH BIGâ family is like that. I wonder how they look to other users.
- âInk Tremble (mypaint)â very silly brush, especially great for shaking/trembling speech bubbles!
- âInk Tremble softâ i will use it in sketch stages to bring more natural/interesting lines when i have trouble to do so. Great for doodles, since details are kinda tricky to do.
- âInk Wasted 2â not sure if its my problem but its very off-set, i saw similar in photoshop but i never understood how anyone can draw comfortably with these. Otherwise great brush with slight texture.
- âInk 1 Damagedâ very situational ig, but still fun brush with that sassy feel.
- âInk 1 Precision Copy comicâ basic brush, got nothing to say about it tbh.
- âInk 1 Precision-Speedâ speed doesnt seem to do much to me.
- âInk Lumacolor Mâ entire family is basic but smth feels special about it.
I kinda got tired writing all of this⊠- âWasted penv2â again that off-set, would be nice to have copy of it without that.
- aaaand rest are textures, i donât really use theseâŠ
These ink brushes should be pretty good in collab with Kritaâs watercolor/halftones, havenât tested that yet.
RamonM you are gold, iâd never knew that Kritaâs engine capable of such great stuff without your work. The sketch brushes you made were just straight up revolutionary. Best wishes, CherryBerryCat.
I hope i didnât sound bossy much lol, this all-nighter got me
Just compared my brush speed setting to yallsâŠ
