Introduce yourself! šŸŽ™ļø

Thanks sooz

Hello!

I am professional artist working in mobile games but I also do plenty of personal drawing in free time. At work I mostly use Adobe package but to play with something different at home I am recently trying Krita and I really enjoy the feeling of brushes. It took a while to get used to different shortcuts but I adjusted them to be almost the same as I use in Photoshop. So far I mostly try inking brushes and RGBA brushes (All the color interactions are fun to see)

 Hello @Marconi_Ibe, and welcome to the forum!

If you are searching for more resources, like brushes, I suggest visiting the Resources-category of the forum, where you can also find Plugins extending Krita’s capabilities with many interesting functions, and also Tutorials can be found there. Most of these are free of charge.

Finally getting to introducing myself :stuck_out_tongue:

Depression cut my studies (biology) short and took quite a few years from me. I tried drawing as rehab, finally got well enough to seriously practice since last year, and felt comfortable posting sketches last month. I started with Krita with no experience with other software. Looked for for open source right from the start. Love this forum.

Likely due to my background and mental needs I’m drawn towards drawing cute and comforting animals and plants. I also want to develop skills for somewhat more realistic styles and for character / creature / mechanic concepts, since I had some ideas from before depression took over. Maybe I could even develop a new career and meaning for life.

A major challenge with depression is that when looking at drawing lessons, references to something being ā€œgoodā€ or ā€œinterestingā€ often feel empty. Maybe that might eventually cause problems with evaluating my own work. I just hope it won’t matter as much if I draw well enough.

Hello.
I also like drawing and looking at pictures.
The first time I used Krita was to create fan art (short animations) for an online game I liked when the service ended.
I fell in love with Krita at that time and have continued to use it ever since.

I’m glad to have the opportunity to interact with you on this forum. thank you!

I’m Japanese and use automatic translation tools. Sorry if there are any strange expressions.

Hello!

My name is Vithor, I am from Brazil, studied Design at a local college worked as an illustrator for more than 10 years. I took a time off around 3 years ago and am trying to get back in shape and maybe become professional again. :muscle:

The scenery looks really challenging with all this generative AI popping around, though. But anyway, this is a discussion for another topic.

Nice to have you here! :+1:
I hope you like it with us. We’re a small forum where it not seldom feels like a family, like home, and pretty much everyone supports each other. It’s not the meat grinder that some have experienced on other forums, we respect each other.
So have a look around if you like, maybe check out our gallery or the monthly art challenge.

Greetings.

TLDR: Krita is awesome and I want to thank the devs and forum community for providing this phenomenal platform.

Long version:

I’ve been enjoying Krita now for years (at least 4 or 5?) and finally created a forum account.

Using an Xp-pen Artist 13.3 Pro display tablet, I used Krita exclusively to write/illustrate/publish two children’s books for my grandchildren.

While it’s far more feature-rich software than what I’ve ever needed, this fact serves to ā€œegg me onā€ to keep learning.

More recently, I’ve gravitated to a pen tablet (no display - simply an Xp-pen Deco 01v2, although still considering alternatives) and actually prefer it now over a higher end display tablet.

It might seem odd why I might prefer to draw ā€œover hereā€ while seeing the results ā€œover thereā€ but consider that this precisely how a hand-held mouse works… not a problem. Nor is typing on a keyboard down here and seeing characters appear on the screen up there.

Lately I’ve been spending considerable time with OpenToonz & Tahoma2D for creating 2D animation. These FOSS tools provide highly functional drawing capabilities - although nothing with the depth of the classical/traditional art tools provided on Krita.

I’m wondering if Krita’s animation capabilities may also ā€œdo the trickā€ for my needs, but I’ll have to devote time to delve deeper to see how they compare. FWIW, I rely on various methods of producing inbetweens (prefer to create characters in vector, not raster), use key-based camera movements, Z-dimensionality, etc.

In any event, the efforts of the developers (and those throughout this community) to offer and support such an outstanding FOSS tool is deeply appreciated!

I guess the thing that surprises me now is that I didn’t already have a logon account here on the forum - as I’ve been lurking on threads for a long while.

Ciao.

That was true for me too, but better late than never, I thought back then.
