Is there a krita app for phones?

I was curious if krita had an app on mobile. I have an apple phone and don’t know what their is to use for drawing software on an apple phone

 Hello @Heavenly_Aether, and welcome to the forum!

There is a mobile option for Android, but unfortunately not for iOS, thanks to these freaks in Cupertino.
If Apple wouldn’t have paranoia when it comes to Free (Libre) and Open Source Software, then they probably would lower the rates to get a software into their shop after they allow/accept the licenses used for FOSS. But it seems that they consider it a bad thing if the source code of a software is open and, what a horror, a software can be obtained free of charge.
The bitter joke is, that Krita is known to run on Apple’s mobile platforms.

Because of that, it is a wonder, in my eyes, that you can get Krita for macOS - but this is only my opinion.

Maybe it leads Apple to change their mind, if all those users, that want to use Krita and other FOSS on iOS, bombard Apple with mails and ask Apple for lowering the hurdles for FOSS like Krita.

Krita is also not yet very optimized for such small devices. It is a whole painting suite made for workstations so especially the UI gets in your way when running on handheld devices. It’s like trying to run Blender or Photoshop on a phone.

Short answer is no. Neither krita has a mobile interface nor has ios availability.

So if you have android or apple devices, its a no go. Unless you want to manage overbearing desktop ui on tiny screen then android could be an option.

Krita however works great on android tablet

It is true that it is not meant and made for phones, but a few users have their workspace modified in a way that they can use it on a phone and are happy with it. But it is not easy to achieve, and I guess it has some downsides.
So one has to want it very much.

Some have made it work on a phone.

Here’s 2 examples:

Im one of them. Granted i have flagship samsung.

but yeah downside is UI/ I change my font size to like 6 and reorient everything. Alot would not have that kind of patience or what that small of UI interface. It hard to make it work the same way in desktop, but a portable sketchpad it works well.

I once draw gooses passing by with it and just nature when I was at a team building event.

I only crashed it once.
Really really small font.

@kaichi1342 That’s dedication!

well, you are the man, with that kind of screen estate one needs lots of dedication.

Once this 5.2 series is out I will try again with the developers if my ideas can be implemented for both tablet and mobile

Maybe @sh-zam might chime in.

@28fjfj12bsjfqj do you have a screenshot of Krita running on your phone? How do you handle layers? How do you get at your brushes?

+1, i would like to see that too

@28fjfj12bsjfqj Your setup is genius. If you get the time, would you consider reposting these pics in the tutorial section? I could move your post over to that section but that would remove it from this thread and it also serves a purpose right here.

The pics would need to be uploaded a second time (so that they enlarge when users click on them) but the text could be copy/pasted to save time.

This makes me so happy.

I like it, although I tend to animate and I need the animation docker fully exposed. can I get rid of the bar at the bottom? wasn’t there before. Here is my set-up, click on the picture to get full image, one is full screen mode and the other is canvas only. I just wish I can customize animation docker size and toolbar size and number of toolbars

I can understand your wish, but I’m afraid you will have to wait longer for this wish to fulfill. First, the transformation to a tablet interface for Android has to be completed before thinking about further UI minimization, in the direction of cell phones. But one will be well advised to plan for this next step.
