Kritas blender-style monthly donation system requires an KDE account to donate. Personally, this turns me off from donating since I would have to jump through extra hoops just to give the Krita team money; unlike Godots and Blenders fund page.
I think this should be changed to immediately show fields to put in your card information (like with Blender), or use the PayPal system (like with Godot) so that would-be-donators are immediately presented with something familiar instead of jumping through some extra hoops. What do you think?
I can’t quite relate to your experience here.
If I want to donate with PayPal, I go to the following website and have, in my region Germany/Europe, the options shown in the screenshot, I do not need a KDE membership, at least not here. Whether I want to donate once or repeatedly does not change anything. Donating with PayPal is no problem here! And the other options also work, as far as I know.
Thank you for the reply. Sorry for not making it clear, but I was talking about the monthly donation system; I have updated the post to make it more clear on what I am talking about. The page you linked to is only for one time donations.
You can setup a recurring donation to foundation@krita.org in paypal youself, but note that a donation of one dollar effectively becomes zero after costs.
Oops, sorry, you can’t read my mind, I need to explain further what I meant above.
If I make a donation via giropay, SOFORT Überweisung and Bank transfer, I only have to open my online banking account afterward and depending on the method chosen, i.e. giropay, SOFORT Überweisung and Bank transfer, I need a different number of clicks to turn it into an automatically repeated donation. The rest is done by the bank computer month after month, year after year. The result is therefore identical, just not the route.
However, if you are interested in this badge, as far as I know, you can only get it via KDE membership at the moment, but you may be able to get help via @Ahabgreybeard’s link.
But the KDE membership is free and hasn’t hurt me yet.

Edit/Add: I think that more of the financial service providers in the screenshot offer the option of converting a one-off payment to a standing order.
I too just ran into this problem. I signed up for monthly donations. My money was taken, but i am unable to access or register the account i signed up with. Attempting to recover my account lead me through loops and attempting to contact the 3rd party was near impossible.
