Thank you for the update, @wolthera.
Appreciate the update! Been following closely and appreciate the hard work being put in. Thank you very much.
For me as of late I can’t even open the krita app as it’ll say “your application encountered a fatal error and cannot continue.” And idk what to do also it says krita(Beta) when I try to redownload it
Hello @THE-ANTI-VOID_7 and welcome to the forum!
Am I right that you are complaining about your Android updated via Googles Play Store?
Or do you face this issue after obtaining your Android from the F-Droid repository?

Your post was moved into a more relevant thread. I believe you will find your answer here. Just scroll up a few posts and you will see the solution.
Every time I go to open up Krita it tells me that a fatal error had occurred and that the application had failed. this never happened at all before I had accidentally drawn the ex-German rulers insignia when trying out different brush modes. could my accidental creation be a cause? or is it something else? I’ve tried restarting my Chromebook and deleting and redownloading the app, but none of it has worked. that’d be kinda weird if it was because of the accidental design… idk. ples help. it’s been going on for a while now.
I moved your post into a thread where many people are discussing this.
There is a problem with 5.2.2. Scroll up a few posts and you will see an update and a potential solution.
Has the update rolled around?
@Neo Open the Play Store and see if the update button is live. If there is no update button, Google has not yet distributed it.
Any updates on this? Thought the Chromebook version update would’ve rolled out by now but haven’t seen it in my play store.
Mine just got rolled out a few minutes ago! Have you checked again?
@Spoona_Benson
I just got the update from the Play Store.
Krita has no control over when Google rolls out the updates that are submitted. Keep checking the Play Store as the update should hit your area soon.
Just checked and saw the update. Unfortunately after updating the app just straight up crashes after. Window pops up then fades away. The error message doesn’t even show up.
Just got the update! Everything is working smoothly now!!! Thanks so much Krita team!
@Spoona_Benson
Can you restart your device and then try Krita again? I don’t know if that will really make a diff. but it will only take a moment.
Powered off then powered it back on and it still crashed. Decided to completely reset my Chromebook after that, then download Krita again and yet I’m still getting the crash.
Seems like my Chromebook just isn’t cooperating anymore.
@Spoona_Benson
I’m way out of my depth here because I’ve never even looked at a chromebook, but is there any way for you to find and remove the kritarc file? Possibly something in there is giving a bad direction to the updated app. Kritarc is a config file that remains even after an uninstall.
In Windows machines it’s in users/username/AppData/Local
In regular Android (not chrome) it’s in org.krita/files/settings
It works here fine now.
Can you confirm what version of Krita is downloaded? And see if there is anything in the logs?
Maybe also what device you are using? Like maybe a 32bit?
Seems fine.
The logs should be in:
/Android/data/org.krita/files/
I think it was under Play Files and you have to have it show all folders, if its not there I’ll go check on mine
