Krita 5.2.2 update 'Fatal Error' on chromebook

Yes, I have 125.0.6422.61 (Build oficial) (x86_64)

I updated my Krita for my Chromebook to see if the new update works but It now crashes immediately and I tried most things from reading this forum but they don’t really seem to work? I’m a bit skeptical on developer mode. Is there any other solution for this?

Can you go to Play Files, click 3 dots and show all folders

then go to:

/Android/data/org.krita/files/

and see if there are logs there?

My developer mode doesn’t work, so I couldn’t tell you

i hope this gets fixed :frowning: I updated it to 5.2.3 recently and it still crashes

Hey there! I was having a similar problem and found a work around. Pretty much I put my Chromebook in developer mode then downloaded the apk of a previous version of Krita. Specifically I’m running the 5.1.5 version. You can find it pretty easily from just searching it up but if you can’t I’ll share a link from the website I used to download it. Make sure to turn off automatic updates from the play store beforehand so it doesn’t update to the current version and start crashing again.

Give this a try. Hopefully it works for you as it did for me. And as a caution, running developer mode does clear all save data so I’d recommend uploading all of it elsewhere before. I did that then just redownload my necessary stuff back to my Chromebook.

Thank you so much!! The only reason I’m skeptical of developer mode is because of the clearing data and it’d be less secure. If you don’t mind I would love the link you downloaded it from and I’ll give it a try and hopefully it works!

(Also hoping this won’t be like a permanent thing we’ll have to do in order to have access to krita lol)

Sorry for the late reply, I don’t use this site too often. Firstly here’s a link to where I downloaded the previous version of Krita from.

https://krita.en.uptodown.com/android/post-download/87679027

And secondly I’m pretty sure returning from Developer Mode does wipe files again, I’m not sure. Personally I haven’t switched back since I’ve had it on. The Chromebook still works the same from everything I can tell. Pretty much just works as my android phone where I can download stuff from off the play store. It’s a rather silly restriction so don’t worry much about the multiple pop ups that will try to stop you.

Oh yes definitely! I was so bored out of my mind when I couldn’t pass the time by drawing. I’m still very much grateful for your help!
