Krita crashing when pasting anything using Ctrl+V

It’s super weird to describe this but every time I paste literally anything, specifically using shortcut keys, Krita will freeze then hard crash. ‘Copy Selection to New Layer’ in the lasso drop down still works fine, and same with right clicking and duplicating a layer on the layer panel. It is specifically Ctrl+V. What makes it more specific is upon opening, Krita works like normal for the first 10 or so seconds, but after that, pasting becomes a death sentence for my work.

I’ve tried looking up each line but usually I don’t get anything that works. I’ve tried using the version on AUR, flatpak, and even the appimage, all have this same issue. Even when I removed all my modifications (flatpak wiped everything and still had the issue so I don’t believe its something I’ve added on top of the program). At this point I’m at a loss, I try to avoid using Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V but its so baked into me.

I have no idea what the reason for your issue may be, but you are the next user …

It is only an observation I made over the last ~3 years, but the most Linux users reporting an issue of whatever kind use Arch Linux, you can roughly state at least ⅔ of all issues are Arch. Interestingly, Arch derivatives seem to be better maintained, reports on Arch derivatives are statistically average in the last third.

What you can try to suppress Krita crashing, when accidentally using these shortcuts, is to remove them from Settings → Configure Krita → Keyboard Shortcuts.
