I downloaded and installed Krita Pro from the microsoft store, now it wont launch or work and there’s nothing Microsoft can do about it. Can you send me the version I bought in an email? I can’t even find it on the Pirate Bay!!! Newest version of windows installed.
You can get it from the official Krita site at no charge. Thank you for purchasing a copy from the MS Store, a portion of the purchase price goes to the Krita developers to help keep things going strong.
Here’s the download link:

EDIT: Added strikethrough to the text thanking @ManageR_First for financially supporting Krita as it seems they may have purchased a scam version of Krita in which case Krita does not receive any of the funds, only scammers receive funds. We are hoping OP will provide a link so this can be verified.
I’ve never heard of “Krita Pro”.
Can you provide a screenshot of the place that you downloaded it from?
wow…
if you start to search for open source softwares there, I think you’ll get anything except the software
if Krita don’t start, is there any error message?
Grum999
Yeah…if you just search for Krita you should find Krita.org and the download link…
and welcome to the community to the O.P. - ManageR_First !
Thanks everyone, they tell me there is a special pro version, and I have found that it is true, if I download it from the Microsoft store it has a different icon, but you wont find that across the internet. So I wanted to check it out to try out their AI not to mention rendering software, I hear universities in Paris have switched off Adobe to Krita.
Can you please give us the link to the store page. This is most like a someone else trying to sell krita as official one.
I would suggest you uninstall it and ask for a refund. And scan your computer for suspicious activity or files
Interestingly, I can not find “Krita pro” with the store’s own search function in the German Microsoft Store. However, I can imagine that this could be due to the language and the Store used, because Krita is called differently in a few languages, in which language, and in the Microsoft Store of which country, did you purchase “your” Krita pro @ManageR_First?
And as a little information on the side, an (official) Krita with AI does not exist, at least not as long as the current developer team exists!

There was a Krita Pro version many years ago but it didn’t have any special features, only included special support. That was the idea but it never catched on from what I know and it wasn’t for purchase in stores or anything. That’s why you can’t find it anywhere, it’s the same software you get from the homepage.
Krita Pro also was from the version 2 era so when you really somehow got your hands on a over 10 year old Krita version, it’s not a surprise it doesn’t work.
Well I did not know of that myself until I asked Bing, which told me Krita had a paid version. The icon has a blue background on installation, and I bought my version on the American Microsoft store. Right now I’m using the nightly build, and it is amazing, but they are telling me there is important features missing from the unpaid version that I would like to have and they tell me it includes the previously mentioned features. Perhaps they mean since it is open source, AI can be integrated from my own functions or those downloaded from somewhere but I’m pretty sure Bing was telling me those features exist on the paid version, which installs in tandem with the free version with a different icon. Thanks everyone! I figured if I paid for the copy I could try it out but if there was anything wrong with the purchase perhaps I could torrent it since we can make copies of our software, but one of the thoughts I’m having is to also buy a copy from Steam to see if it installs but I couldn’t see from the screenshots on there if the mentioned features were somehow present on that copy so I did not try it, especially if it was just being strange because I have the free version installed too! Guten Tag!
Could you please show screenshots of where you bought it from?
Can you provide a screenshot of the icon?
Who is “they”?
Because from official Krita foundation, there’s absolutely no difference between version you can donwload for free and version you can buy on Microsoft Store.
Can you provide a screenshot of the message where “they” tell that??
That’s totally surrealist…
Why would you download from a torrent an unofficial version of something you can legally have for free from official Krita website?
There’s something I really don’t understand here
The main reason of having Krita in Microsoft Store is to simplify for user the ability to support Krita; version from store is exactly the same than version on krita.org
There’s no PRO version
If someone want to sell you a PRO version, you’re buying something that is not official and for which content might be bloated with viruses or anything weird.
I’m curious about that, it’s an interesting thing.
Can you give us source of this information?
Grum999
Most probably you got scammed, you need to figure out by who. You don’t provide us the details so we can’t help you sorry.
Hello there, that is true of the free version, but if I have an art computer the idea of a virus on a pro version, which I paid for and have a reciept, would make sense in the sense of expedience since I can scan for issues. They do ask for things like virus walls to lower, so this implies some vector which may or may not be important. However, I will try to provide an appropriate difference in a screenie here:
my earlier install which I saw next to this one was not blue on the icon.
You don’t answer to questions.
Provided screenshot is useless.
Can’t really help you
Grum999
Yes I saw this one
But @ManageR_First answers and screenshot are too vague to know what he’s really talking about
Note: this one is not an official Krita foundation version

This is a very scary app.
In the permissions section it says it uses all system resources (that means all your data) and the privacy policy (which I had to translate from Chinese) states they are gathering info. The real Krita doesn’t gather user data.
If I were you, @ManageR_First, I’d get this off my machine. You may be eligible for a refund from Microsoft.
When you say Bing is telling this, than its probably Chat-GPT telling nonsense.
The “Krita” you showed us is a fake, the Publisher is “Brian Studio” and the App has no reviews but the actual Krita is published by Krita.
There is no paid version that offers any more functionality than the free one.
Since there doesn’t seem to be a way for normal users to report the fake app, I’m tagging @halla maybe the Krita Team can do something about that.
From the looks of it, it’s fake. Krita is free and open source, download it directly from the krita website at not charge!
I mean, I assume there is a Microsoft version of Krita but I ain’t never seen Krita Pro
