Hello. Are there people willing to spend an hour or two drawing? I suggest you have a little fun)
The rules are simple:
1)we determine the start and end time of the competition. Preferably no more than 2 hours.
2)We define the topic.
3)We draw
4)After the end of the competition, works will no longer be accepted. We vote for the work that we liked the most. The winner is the one who gets the most votes in one day of voting. As a reward, we all praise this mega cool stylus master)
Anyone who would like? Indeed? Hey people, let’s cross our brushes in an unequal fight))) Do not hesitate, leave applications, on which topic you would like to compete, I accept every challenge))
Maybe it’s because you’re expecting a diverse group of people, dipping in and out of a forum, in different time zones, with different commitments, to come together and participate within a very limited time window. Also, setting it up as a of battle of skills will be intimidating to many artists and further reduce the pool of interested individuals.
It’s hard enough mustering enthusiasm for the monthly challenge, so trying to arrange something with such narrow boundaries will be very difficult - Hence Ahab’s response!
Back when conceptart .org was alive and busy, some artists formed sketch groups so they could bounce off each other with similar goals and feedback, encouraging growth. That was a different environment to here, but still you might find other individuals interested in forming such a group; Then setting challenges like this between you might be more feasible.
Actually I understand) I’m also a freelancer and I have work to do. Simply, there is not always an incentive to sit down and draw something for yourself. This is the essence of such a competition: just get together and draw for fun. I don’t see anything wrong, we all have different skill levels, regardless of the level we all have something to learn. Of course there is a problem with the time difference. But there are no strict restrictions or rules. just draw)
Sounds like fun, can’t participate myself though. Thoughts:
a 2 hour window is fine, it just limits who can participate to people roughly on the same continent. There’s ways to do a 2 hour window anytime in a 24 hour day, but it gets messier to deal with
instead of most votes = winner, it could be most votes = who chooses the next topic. And an emphasis that it’s not just quality but effort or coolness of the idea that counts
Yes, great ideas. I like the idea that whoever wins gets to choose the next topic. Also, I am in favor of putting the emphasis not on the quality of the drawing, but on a more interesting presentation or idea. Maybe if two hours is a problem due to the time difference we can limit yourself to a day or two. Just want something faster than a month of time)
Hey, Yaroslav! Let’s do this. Do you have time this Saturday(08.07.)? We have one hour timezone difference I think. And as we’re duelling for the first time, I’d say let’s go for a big equalizer topic like rocks/rock formations. Bonus points if biomespecific like volcanic or coastal. Easy to draw, but hard to get right. And composition …on the rocks.
Hello. Yes, I’m free all Saturday) Choose a start time. The topic is suitable. Let’s agree right away whether it should be a landscape or just some interesting elements of rocks.
Fantastic! How about Saturday afternoon 3 PM CEST - that should be 4 PM for you? And the session should be done after 2 hours latest. And let’s go environment direction, if we go texture study/details, we might end up in abstract/art philosophy land. Is it allowed to browse some interesting refs before the challenge?
And I assume we post the results here in this thread?
I think we don’t need any limits. Except for time, of course) References are allowed, the style can be any. The main thing is to work on the topic and only two hours starting at 3:00 p.m
We post the results here)
We may need the help of referees, we will invite someone after the competition)
