Yes, there is a feature request for a light table, but that doesn’t seem to be an actual light table, more like a “Shift & Trace” feature like Opentoonz has. I am not talking about that.
Some apps (Tahoma2D and Harmony, for example) have a “Light Table” option that basically drops the opacity of all unselected layers and also applies some sort of “wash” to them. This makes it so that if you are working with multiple layers and you don’t want to hide them you can still focus on one layer and know what lines belong to that layer.
here is an example from tahoma2D, notice how the train gets lost in the background but I can see it clearely when I turn the light table on.

when you work with many layers it can be annoying to have to go one by one changing their individual opacity. I try to organice my layers in groups and anything that’s on top of my current layer can be lowered by the group opacity master and I also create a layer filled with white set to 60% opacity and I turn that on and off when I want a light table.
This is useful mainly for animation but I bet it can be used in many other activities that require many layers. When you want to know what exactly you have on the layer you’re working on, just turn the light table on and there you go! Also it seems to be something not that hard to get since its just lowering every unselected layer’s opacity down but I know ZERO about how software works so maybe its too hard in which case its ok I’ll keep doing what I do
