Anyone else doing a jumping thing?? When I first saw the challenge, I immediately thought, ‘5 seconds before…. Oh! I could do some kind of jump.’ I really love this movie with a jumping scene, and so, voilà!
Hi @sooz .
Sorry about that!! I understand. I won’t make it an entry (or post it on Krita-artists.org). Thanks for the helping me out.
For future stuff, can you maybe explain a bit more about the content standards? Like, in the challenge you gave a suggestion: “Before shooting”?? And I believe there was also an entry in this month’s contest of an archer (with bow) aiming at a person. So what’s going on?
(I’m guessing drawing ‘fights’ isn’t allowed, even if there’s no blood/gore (or weapons)?)
Also, is it O.K to delete my post? It won’t be of much use now. XD
In principle, the Content Standards must be known to you, after all, by completing your registration, you agreed to follow these rules, as well as all the other forum rules (TOS) and Guidelines. Did you fail to read them?
But here mainly applies the sub-part called Sensitive Content (NSFW) policy.
I hope this helps to see the matter more clear.
By the way, although it is always tried again and again by a few users to test out how far they can go, and thus trying to widen the rules slowly, which, if it is noticed, will usually lead to those works being removed from the forum, it is preferred when the users are so mindful and don’t try this, as this always creates an uncomfortable situation for everyone involved.
With my own words: This is because we want to keep this forum a safe space for young people as well, and Krita-Artists - even if it’s not explicitly stated - does not want to be known as a haven for NSFW content.
Why delete your post? This way others, who maybe plan to create something similar, at least could see that there is content we do not want to have in this forum. So it can be a guideline on the one hand and on the other it is at least an example for a functioning community in which we can talk about nearly everything and solve issues in a civilized manner.
@edgarej Love your use of light/shadow and perspective! You have an eye for composition. I especially like the sub-surface scattering of red between the light and shadow.
The person who created the challenge chose the wording “before shooting.” That can mean many things.
One person holding a gun against the head of another with their finger on the trigger is too violent. I don’t think you’ll find anything like that on the forum.
Why not make another entry? We’d love to see that.
Got it! I wanted to delete the post because if it contained ‘sensitive content’ I thought it would be better to delete it completely than just removing the image. I didn’t want to dampen the mood with it, that wasn’t my intention in the first place-! But if it’s (OK to keep) like @michelist said, then I won’t remove it.
Also, I did read the Terms of Service (when I created my account), but I now notice that the NSFW part changed a short while after I made my account? Oh well, not that it matters much, it’s still my bad for failing to notice that my drawing might’ve contained sensitive content XD.
I’ll just say the following (again?):
How true…whenever the car is washed something always messes it up.
But here, there’s going to be a rumble. Don’t know who the winner will be @steve.improvthis. It’s a fun idea with the music of West Side Story playing in the background. Trying to get the tones and shadows right.
I didnt plan to participate because had no ideas for this challenge but then realised that one of my old ideas will work just fine. Sadly I doubt I’ll be able to finish it in time well I will at least try anyway, mb the new style/technique I wanna test with it will be faster (but in case of a failure I’ll have to return to my old style hence the time will be lost…).
these are young faerie dragons from HoMM3, the scene I had in mind for a month or so already. they entertain themselves by casting random spells on knights and travelers. so i guess it fits the challenge - just a moment before something random hits the poor rider. will it be fortune or something nasty? even the dragons dont know - that’s the point of why they find it funny.
P.S.:i was sketching from memory so they aren’t accurate to the game just yet, ofc will fix it all later.
the other quick sketch I made right before going to bed, kinda planned as a spare variant just in case i wont finish the first one in time. planned it more like “just a moment before” but now it doesnt look like that… will see if i can fix it with adding some movement n effects, but will post it here anyway for now bc imho it still can work for the topic. it is a rust dragon from HoMM3 game, awaken in a sulfur mine by someone, annoyed and ready to attack.
aye, both are factually fanart but most of all i enjoy drawing dragons and that’s my basic skill, and i unfortunately dont have my own dragon characters to draw… so fanart of fave dragons is kinda the only option for me nowadays if i wanna draw at all (hard times, cant gather meself to exist but without creating stuff existing is even worse so i try to heal meself with drawing dragons lol).
Ughh, am so slow!! Had free time only now and this basic stuff took me ~1h 40min (and I already dont like the hands lol). I do kinda enjoy this new style tho. Worry that it’s all gonna be very unfocused if I won’t add detailed sketch as usually but still have hopes to switch to something like this as it feels faster and with my ADHD-powered brain long rendering is such a pain. Like, I love the process of rendering but I just cant focus for long enough for my current style/technique… Also must resize the rider back bc the scene for sure looks better with him being bigger, but I’ve no idea how to draw horses so I wish I could shrink him to the size of a fly lol.
Anyway I’ve no idea how I’ll be uploading the finished version here (or anywhere at all) as it’s 4000x2480 lol. I love these guys so much already
