There’s now a github! GitHub - Draneria/Metallics-by-Draneria_Krita-Brushes: A free set of brushes (and more!) for Krita users.

── ✦

:gift: Useful For:

:old_key: ✦ You can pick what you want to download! (e.g. “I just want the textures” or “I don’t really need the outliners”) via the “source code”

:hourglass: ✦ As I release new updates, you’ll be able to retrieve older versions if you prefer them more ✧(>ᴗ<)

── ✦

p.s. I am completely new to Github, if there’s any mistakes or problems let me know xD

@Draneria

Could you give a brief explanation of how to use each brush?

I have tried several of them and I really like the effects but sometimes they don’t work. It’s like there are areas of the drawing where no matter how many times you go over them, they never paint.

@Selk, Can you give an example of a couple of these brush presets that don’t seem to work for you, Ideally with screenshots of the result?
Also, which ones do seem to work for you?

I am going to start working on some how-to guides, I’ll post them when I can! As has been mentioned, if you can tell me which ones you are having trouble with, I can fast track an explanation/demo gif for you :sparkles:

If it happens to be with one called “Dra) Metallic: Powder - Dust”, that is supposed to be light and subtle! Try using fast dabs in to layer it up. I am looking forward to remastering that brush in particular so it’s a bit more intuitive to use xD

Edit:

I think I might know the issue; texture settings. If you feel comfortable with brush options, try un-ticking the “pattern”, in the “texture section”:

Click this for where-to-click image

Let me know if that fixes the no-show issue! I am away from my PC at the moment, but when I am back I’ll do what I can to make sure these brushes are working correctly for you (´。• ᵕ •。`)

Yes, that is the problem. I show you here in this video (the video is with the pattern active):

So if I want to use the brush with its pattern and with the nice effects, how can I make it paint on the parts that are transparent? Also at the end of the video you can see how something that was already covered in paint becomes transparent again.

Thanks for your effort, don’t feel obligated to do the guides.

Hello @Selk, try this! I have edited the brushes and packed it up into a mini-bundle (Brush tag: Selk).

:alien_monster: If anyone else has been having trouble with these brushes try downloading these! I’ll update/refine the brushes in the official release when I can (。•̀ᴗ-)✧

(Your user icon is cool by the way! I made a quick bundle logo using it for the edits)

In the second and third I can see a difference, stronger and more consistent.

But in the first one, as you can see, there is more opacity and those transparent spaces still appear. And I still have to make a lot of strokes.

But don’t worry. I can handle it. The only problem is if I have to paint something with that brush and I have to move it from one area to another to paint it and then move it back to its place.

For example: a warrior is holding a sword, I want to paint it like metal, but in that area there are transparent spaces. I move the sword 1 palm to the right, paint it and put it back in the warrior’s hand.

Thanks for your work @Draneria . I will wait for your updates or guides. No rush!

Hello, just letting everyone know the first tutorial has dropped! :fire:

I’d append the original post with a new section for guides, but I must’ve over-used the “edit” button, because I can’t figure out where it is anymore (。•́︿•̀。)

(or I am just too much of a novice with Krita forum UI haha)
