hello! i was playing in krita to test some brushes and i noticed that in mine, not all the brushes seems to be selectable? i mean, i see them in the brushes, but if i click them, they don’t get selected. how weird.
Heya there!
How strange - I apologise but I haven’t got a clue what’s went wrong here. I take it some of the brushes are unusable for you at the moment?
Let’s figure this out (૭ 。•̀ ᵕ •́。 )૭ Would you mind giving me a couple more details if you are comfortable; current krita version, OS, how you installed the bundle and if any other brushes have been acting the same?
I apologise for any slow responding (things are a little busy atm). I hope we can get this sorted for ya, have a lovely evening!
so.
current krita version - 5.29.11
os - endeavouros
how i installed it? - downloaded the bundle and put that in my krita folder
other brushes doing this? none that i’ve found, for now.
of the bundle, i can only use the faux brushes, the gild detailer, foil (fill and flat), foil (speckles), the gel pens, the glitters, the grunge brushes and the powder one.
Do you mean you downloaded the brushes, then you used the “import” button in either Manage Resources or Manage Resource Libraries?
nope, done that manually (as i pasted the bundle file inside my krita folder)
i shall try importing it in the normal way.
edit: doing the import method does show me only the brushes i can actually use.
not sure if it’s something related to the fact i’m running the (unofficial?) arch package for krita.
If you mean you’ve put it into %APPDATA%\krita\, then it is correct and works like importing via Krita’s resource management after restarting Krita, so importing via ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Manage Resource Libraries…’’ >> ‘’+ Import’'.
But if you mean, you put it into c:\Program Files\Krita (x64)\, then you made the biggest mistake you can make using Krita.

i meant the first. it’s just really weird that only this brush set does this, as far i can see.
i even thought it was something related to memileo’s brushes (as this brush pack uses resources from those) but no dice.
This is a huge brush set, is it possible that your PC can’t handle it? I believe there were reports about this problem already, but I’m too lazy to skim through this topic.
You can try to fully rebuild your resource database. Therefore, you need to delete the file resourcecache.sqlite which is found at the end of %APPDATA%\krita\, but you must terminate Krita before you can delete that database because it is locked while Krita runs.
After deletion, restart Krita and wait until the DB is rebuilt, and then cross your fingers and test.
By the way, if your computer is a low-performance PC, for example with only 8 GB or less RAM, it is possible that this is the cause. A gaming GPU is nice for games, but it is usually not very helpful for Krita, as Krita hardly uses it for anything more than painting the images calculated by the CPU onto the canvas. Only a few use cases in Krita benefit from GPU performance today, but this may change. Krita requires a powerful CPU, but currently any inexpensive graphics card that can run “OpenGL 3.0 or higher / Direct3D 11” is sufficient. ![]()

tried to rebuild the resourcecache and i still don’t have all the brushes. insanely weird.
i happen to have load of ram though.
I’m going to make a bundle with the missing brushes, with a lighter performance requirement - just to rule it out (though it sounds like your PC is strong enough).
In the meanwhile, some NixOS users had a bit of trouble getting some brushes to show up. Solution here, at the bottom of the readme: GitHub - Draneria/Metallics-by-Draneria_Krita-Brushes: A free set of brushes (and more!) for Krita users.
edit: Looks like the buggy brushes all use Memileo resources, so I’d definitely check out the issue/solution - it’s relevant any Linux user having trouble getting my/Memileos brushes to load
Google Drive: Metallics Lite
I’ve remade all the easiest ones (patterns, stamps except oval, gild basic and shell soft) very quickly. I haven’t done any testing so let me know if there are issues - they don’t look as good but they’ll (hopefully) do the job!
Man, oh man, I’m overstretched. I completely overlooked the fact that you don’t use Windows. But a day like today, with almost 100 notifications about topics, posts, and PMs alone here on KA, plus the other things that need to be done besides KA, are pushing an “old grandpa” like me to his limits. ![]()

happens to the best too! to be honest, i would never have thought to try to rebuilt the brush cache all alone, so, it was a still well accepted suggestion.
also, thank you @Draneria for making the extra pack!
i tried to add them, krita keeps telling me the file don’t exist. done all I could to get them added. sadly nothing. and this would have been perfect for my current piece as i wanted some gold added to my goddess.
Heya, lets get this sorted! First off may I know your general OS details and an outline of all the ways you’ve tried to install the bundle?
Next, please pick up a fresh copy from Ko-fi (https://ko-fi.com/s/c567fcfd29) or Google Drive ( Metallics – Google Drive ), this is to set a baseline.
Also, could you please try installing Pesi’s watercolours too ( Set of Watercolor Brushes ) so we can check whether this is an issue is with my bundle only or something else went wrong. Thank you!
I’ve been having issues with this as well, and I’m on EndeavorOS. I don’t really know how to recompile libpng on my system with the patch ![]()
I also tried remaking the resourcecache file, but it only rehid the brushes that don’t work.
Edit: I figured out how to patch libpng. the brushes work fine now, but they really eat up my memory.
alright, so i figured it out. i was downloading the new water color brushes as you asked. then i came across in a diff thread that someones brush set only will work with the most recent version which is 5 or whatever. then I discovered, I never updated my krita. so your brushes now work. thank you for the reply. and sorry for my over sight on not being up to date on the program, my bad ![]()
I’m glad you were able to figure it out. I have no idea where to start on fixing the memory issue, but I do know this bundle is quite hefty. I made a metallics “lite” earlier, maybe this would be useful if using the normal versions become too unwieldy Metallics by Draneria - #93 by Draneria
Phew, congratulations and thank you for letting me know!!!
Hi, can someone help please? I can’t install the bundle because when I try to import it, either Krita or the file manager registers it as a folder and I cannot select the bundle, only singular files within which cannot be imported. I’m on Android. Thank you!
