Please post only artworks and discussion related to submitted artwork in this thread. There is a WIP thread for each monthly art challenge in which you can ask questions and post your works in progress (WIPs).
The composition should be your own and not an exact copy from someone or somewhere else. If you are using a reference photo taken by anyone other than yourself, please ensure the license allows for its use and include a credit to the photographer with your submission.
Artwork should be done in Krita. Submissions must be done from scratch in Krita, no paint-over or tracing allowed. Photobashing is allowed only when explicitly specified in the topic.
The topic changes every month. Your submission should be somehow related to the topic. If possible, please add a few lines explaining your idea and image.
No AI-generated images are allowed, not even partial use of AI and paint over. It is unfair for those who are drawing from scratch.
You can post a maximum of 3 entries and also edit the entries until the deadline. All your entries will be clubbed during the vote and you only get one vote. Reply with your entries to this post in this thread. All entries must appear in a single post. Please do not post your submissions in any other category on Krita-Artists until voting has closed and the winner is declared.
In order to have the image featured, the entries need to be safe for work so please avoid any NSFW or controversial content. The moderators can use their discretion to disqualify the image from the contest with prior notice. Of course, the artist will be given the chance to submit an alternate image or change it.
Submissions will be accepted until 2025-08-26T18:00:00Z, at which time the topic will automatically close. You can check how much time is left at the bottom of the thread.
We will hold a poll at the end of the challenge period. The artwork with the most votes will be the winner.

The winner will be featured on this website in the featured artwork row.
The winner will have the privilege to set the next topic of their liking. If the winner is not available or reachable, then the 1st runner up will be asked to provide the topic and challenge.

Please spread the word about this art challenge by posting your artwork on various social media websites with the hashtag – #KritaChallenge. If possible, include a link to the forum post.
I hope we will enjoy this exercise so let us begin.
P.S. Note we can change the rules based on the feedback on this contest and modify the format. Any suggestions are welcome. To submit feedback, please create a new topic in theSite Feedback category.
In summer it’s time to pick tomatoes, suffering from the heat (sorry kiki for the difficult activities) and eating tomatoes.
My cat favorite activity is to sleep on people, so I just added an sleeping cat on Kiki. It’s the most I could think of for the optional challenge.
For me, summer equals ice cream So entry for this month is Ice Cream Degustation. Kiki has decided to try every kind of this treat (with lemon and grape flavors inside the bowl).
For additional challenge, I’ve added a pet for Kiki. Her name is Orange
P.S.: Don’t worry, they’re tiny scoops of ice cream, so it won’t be a challenge to eat them all.
I struggled with inspiration until @steve.improvthis suggested I just think of something I like to do in summer and go from there. So, a campfire, a dog, and a cold one it is!
I had no idea what to draw this time, and then suddenly realised the month was almost done! I’m not particularly fond of summer, but watermelon is one of the best things about it
I think the challenge prompt (summer activities) subconsciously reminded me of that old “Four Seasons” contest from a few years back. One of my entries in that contest had featured Kiki as a treasure hunter, which probably helped inspire the theme of this piece.
The other source of inspiration was the feeling of excitement that summer brings me. So many opportunities for wonderful surprises and new discoveries!
So yeah, what treasure has Kiki found? Minted gold? Maybe a new plugin for Krita?
(Oh, and the parrot’s name is Aristotle. He belongs to a learned university professor, who gave him not only the name but also a love for discovery. )
Yay! I managed to finish it (despite a vicious headache that ambushed me this morning )! Here’s my entry: Kiki is having fun on the beach with her cyber-dog Penpen.
First time post. I saw last month’s community challenge and thought I’d join in this time. I don’t usually draw people/characters so bear with my interpretation of Kiki : / Fishing was one of the activities which came up when googling summertime activities. Also, I think I just felt like drawing a fish. The challenge was fun
Kiki has come to a mysterious place to explore (I also designed a new summer outfit for Kiki, but I spent most of the month figuring out how to draw , most of which were done in the last few days)
I thought I might get it done, but it proved too much in the end - I had to rush to get all the elements together and colour it. It’s ended up as a kind of mock-up over the more detailed work.
I wasn’t sure how much underwater gear she would need given she’s an android. In the end I decided she would have inbuilt adaptations for going underwater. I didn’t want to obscure her face, but gave her a wetsuit and flippers. I also thought it would be cool if she could separate her tail sections for underwater propulsion. I’m calling the little robot Kwerty - It’s a simple design but that’s what I wanted - just a cute little companion bot!
