So, uh, when we see anthropomorphic horse, do we mean bipedal “furry” horse? Or am I missing a key ingredient here?

Hi @Scio - Thanks for asking the question. Anthropomorphic refers to having human attributes. Whether your horse is bipedal or not (or furry or not) is up to you and your imagination. Can’t wait to see what you design!

(PS I moved your post out of the art challenge thread and into the WIP/Questions thread.)

Is it only my perverted mind, or this month’s topic will make it really hard to avoid NSFW inspirations?
I mean, the month hasn’t even properly begun yet and we’re already talking of riding a furry, right?

Well anything can be made in NSFW, that is rule 34 of the internet. it depends on the community and the person

For the contest the rules say no nsfw.

Haha! I know, don’t worry, I was just joking… Because some words are still more prone to rule 34 than others… :innocent:

I was thinking the same…
The internet is so full of images of antropomorphic creatures doing, well, the other kind of riding that it’s impossible to filter them all out :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL, these comments are really making me laugh! When I looked up exactly what anthropomorphic actually meant - I took it to mean a horse with human like personality, not necessarily physical qualities. So like a cartoon horse who understands what you are saying and has human facial expressions and opinions on stuff. Well, that’s what I’m going for anyway… otherwise the whole ‘riding’ scenario does become a little … problematic!
I cannot wait to see what this month’s challenge produces!!

Haha… our minds are ruined. Just when i thought i would enter in my first monthly challenge

LOL you guys! Maybe I used the word “anthropomorphic” inappropriately. I’ve since learned that many “furry” creators take their characters pretty seriously. Try to take it a little less literally. A lot of “furries” do appear more human than the animal… in that case it might be difficult to portray a bipedal character being ridden like a horse without raising some eyebrows. That said, leaning more toward a robotic or traditional type horse may be more suitable.
I’ve been doing some sketches on my “horse” and have already trashed a few because they looked so much like “My Little Pony” and some of the other childrens’ unicorn figures. So I’m opting for a more robotic look.
That said… I think there are a lot of really creative artists in here and we can have fun with this one!

Oh ok! This is better, I tihink I will stick with a robotic horse then🙂

There’s plenty of examples of horses with human personalities in animated films e.g. in Tangled, or similar animals - Donkey in Shrek, the deer in Frozen.

I have painted such a horse at least once before, in a piece for a big contest. That was quite a while ago though…

Yes, that’s what I’m going for I think.

I forgot to say thank you to @Mythmaker for reminding us that August is Kiki month. It was very good of you to send a message.

A horse is a horse, of course, of course, and no one can talk to a horse, of course." That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mister Ed!

Haha I totally sang that in my head while reading your post.

I’m going to play this one safe and just go full robotic with the horse. I’ve been spending some time drawing mechanical components lately so this will fit in perfectly.
