Some more progress, this might end up being my final version since there’s only a few days left.

I was a bit intimidated by rendering the stylus, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out- not too shiny or dull, even if it’s kinda uneven. It took a few passes with different brushes and some color adjustment. And the outer edges are made straight with alpha inheritance over straight lines (actually, I don’t know why I didn’t use a transparency mask). I might’ve accidentally made it too small, though, it’s hard to see when zoomed out now.

This is a bit of a tangent, but when playing with the brush I used for those rainbow pixels (modified from Rakurri v2’s ‘rdi) Fractured’), I noticed it uses a repeating time-based opacity curve to make that split brushstroke effect. And I thought, what if I made a brush with non-repeating distance-based opacity, with that same all or nothing curve? Then it’s possible to make a brush that runs out of ink/paint! Krita’s brush engines have so many options, it’s easy to come across unexpected possibilities.

Hi @YRH,
This looks fantastic. If I can make a suggestion regarding the background? If you crop it like so, we can focus even more on that delicious cake!

Sometimes I make my canvas bigger than what I will use in my final work, so that the piece doesn’t look ‘placed’ in the image.

P.S. Please post the recipe too!!

@YRH Which brush did you use for the cake texture? Was it a splatter brush?
Edit: regarding this entry:

Hi, @MangooSalade, thanks! That’s not a bad suggestion, however I didn’t want to cut the plate either, so it is what it is  But if we want to focus more on the logo, then yes, I agree.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a tested recipe! I never tried to bake it myself  It’s typically a cake that you just buy at a bakery or a confectionery, but it probably isn’t that difficult to make actually (looking at a few random recipes I saw online). I usually bake cheesecakes or tarts, which I love too

Hi @CrazyCatBird, I mostly used the brushes from David’s pack (deevad 23.01). I first filled a flat brown color for the cake base, then used

image - y) Dry Scratch Texture - deevad 23.01

to create the texture using brush’s normal blending mode first with a few different colors, and then multiply mode to quickly get nice darker colors. Once I had a small section of the texture, I shamelessly copy-pasted it to other areas  and then used brush a bit again to make it more varied. And I believe I used the same brush for the whipped cream filling, just much more subtle…

I also experimented a bit with a skew transform to make the texture on the sides look more in line with the perspective.

Generally, I think figuring out the colors is the challenging part. When you look at the reference, the mix of colors in a real photo is often really counter-intuitive.

As for the difficulty, I had the most trouble with the whipped cream topping (the grooves) and the metal fork (no good reference for how the light would reflect at this angle).

Okay, if your member state does not allow it by now, we ask our helpful “ghosts” @AhabGreybeard; @raghukamath; @sooz to edit your post for you. And because I pinged them now, we only have to wait for their action, you don’t need to ask them too.
