Monthly Art Challenge WIPs and Discussion Thread – July 2024

I guess the thing on the wall is a painting… But I’m terrified it could be a window!

I’m having difficulty associating the themes, I hope that during the month more ideas will come to mind. (for my entry hehe, but I’m loving seeing what people are doing )

I am planning on a photo… but could make it a window!

What helped me is trying to convey a “character” through the still life, kind of like one of those old ones with the fruits and flowers.

Don’t make it a window, or I think it wouldn’t be a still-life anymore!
And it’s way better with the table.

You’ve seen the future in your polished rock?! How quaint! :smirk:

I’VE ACTUALLY BEEN TO THE FUTURE!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Besides - these things come with an all-time warranty; If it fails they just deliver the same one back to you from the past when it was still working!

You’ll believe - mark my words! You’ll believe at the end of this month when the next theme turns out to be…

Spoiler for next month's theme

Kiki themed!!!

I didn’t want to say it to not start a panic but I’ve also seen that you’ll break the universe itself with all your time paradoxes… Or maybe it was only a crack in my crystal ball? Who knows… :upside_down_face:
I already knew about your spoiler of course. Elementary for whoever has been here for more than a year… :smirk:

A first idea, not definitive but it’s the first thing that came to mind

Great topic! I need @Mythmaker 's time machine though, as I get back from travelling only a few days before the challenge closes. Either that or to borrow the ability to do it at the last minute!

I have moved on to shading. Resisting the habit of pressing ctrl Z is as hard as ever. I have found having another document open as a “Palette” to keep colours and mix on is very helpful for shading. Like traditional painting I suppose. Just like traditional painting I also find myself building layers

Opening your “palette” in the same document but in the Reference Images Tool would be even more convenient in my opinion…

First sketch… I keep changing it around

It still looks very earthly at the moment, but since I know what we’ve already seen from you, I’m curious to see how you’ll surprise us here again?

I’ve had my fair share of sketches that don’t stay put. They’re like hamsters in that way, always on the go

What will be the focal point?

The important thing is that YOU’RE GOING! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :ok_hand:

Would this still fit in the “still life artwork”? I’m kind of out of ideas and I don’t have such technique to do complex drawings
