Just lovely! I have a lot of respect for artists who can do such beautiful things with those traditional mediums.

You painted those petals and leaves quite realistically! How did you paint so well with watercolor?

Thank you very much, this is a good question…, because my favorite technique is oil

This was an experiment and an underpainting for an oil painting. Sorry for not responding sooner - I just finished this work in oils yesterday.:handshake:

Thank you for your attention to my work. People’s opinions are very important to me. People often notice things that I don’t see.

beautiful!

It’s very delicate, and the design is twice as gorgeous in the traditional version.

@Dima Thank you very much, I didn’t expect this - it was an experiment to see what can be done with watercolors on canvas.

edge of the forest based on Shishkin

I don’t paint with watercolors often, it’s an old attempt at writing.

Nikolai, this is a wonderful work, especially since it’s a watercolor. As you can see, I wasn’t able to achieve this in real life, and a real canvas remains out of my reach. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by Shishkin’s drawings. We had a book of his sketches at home, and I would flip through them, marveling at how he could capture the essence of nature with such precision and creativity. Shishkin was a true Russian artist.

Yes, thank you, Dima. I also like Shishkin’s paintings, probably because I love pine forests, and he is a master of forest landscapes. I also tried to paint his works in oils - I admit, it was not easy, and here I was just getting acquainted with watercolors (before this I painted with honey and on plain paper).

Why is a real canvas so out of reach? When I first tried painting with oils, I used cheap paints and fiberboard, and it was terrible. I even thought, “Is this the royal technique?” But then I bought something better, started watching how others paint, and now oil is my favorite! What materials do you use?

This is a translator’s mistake. I wrote that I don’t have the skills or talent to draw on a canvas, unlike you, but he translated it as “I can’t afford it.”:man_facepalming:

Here I was testing the paper more, the composition shifted - oh well, at least it was from life!:slightly_smiling_face:

I rarely paint with watercolors

@Dima Hi, I didn’t have any skills or talent (and I still don’t have much). I remember I wanted a painting for my wall and the choice was either expensive or not what I wanted, so I decided to paint it myself. I tried different techniques and liked oil because I’m slow, and with it you can think and by the feeling I knew what was mine!
