My XPPen 15.6 pro v2 Pen refues to select anything on screen, so it doesn't draw

I run the latest version of Ubuntu which I believe is 26.04. I have tried using Krita with the xp pen drivers themselves and opentabletdrivers. both have run into the same issue where i can interact with stuff on the screen like firefox but when i open krita it refuses to act like a pen and draw unless is spam click the bottom button which i have mapped to right click and even then it hardly works. please help me fix this as ive been fighting for over the past 4 days to get this working and i just want to draw my attacks for artfight.

Yes, it’s common and reported that both XpPen proprietary driver, and OpenTabletDriver (both userland driver) works poorly on DE like Plasma or GNOME on Wayland and clashes with their own tablet management at a libinput level.

Your tablet probably runs when not probed by a real driver at a kernel level as a “Microsoft Stylus Surface standard” and GNOME probably offer you a minimal amount of customisation for the stylus in the Settings (not sure if in last Ubuntu you have the fix for the second top barrel button , usually hardcoded as a Eraser mode on hold).

Be sure to not run Krita as Snap or Flatpak but run the 5.3x appimage from krita.org ; this one might have no color management (because running on Xwayland) it is still the more stable version to use on Wayland based desktop environment.

I explain more on the install guide ( link: Interim Install Guide: KDE Neon User Edition for a professional digital painter workstation - David Revoy ) I published this year in case you are interested.

I hope you’ll have a setup ready for your Artfight!

i just tried this and its the same issue i had before. it seems to be the same file i downloaded and tested prior that still and this issue, I am going to reboot my computer to be sure but i also just end into my files right clicked the appimage file and hit run if there was another way to do this please let me know.

This is likely the xwayland bug again Touchscreen stylus not working on Gnome 50

another poster said something about downgrading from 24.1.10 to 24.1.9, and it seems to fix the problem, how do i do that?

honestly after looking at the post you linked and the ones they linked it seems to be the same problem, exceptionally with how it only seems to register at random when I tricked it when spam clicking the right click button.
