I am new to both Krita the program and the community. I enjoy using Krita so far, it’s a very good program.
I am currently working on painting based on the Stephen King novel IT. He is describing the end of the macroverse as being a giant wall of fossilized stakes with a moving crawling orange light coming from the spaces between the stakes. I need brushes that can create rays of light, brushes that emulate drifting smoke (like cigarette smoke does) and diffuse clouds like mare’s tail clouds. I tried looking for smoke and light brushes on Google but the ones I liked were all Photoshop brushes.( which aren’t compatible with krita or so I’ve read ) I am retired and on a fixed income so I can’t afford to buy any. If any Krita users could point me to links for Krita brushes that perform these functions and tutorials that would help, I would deeply appreciate it! Thank you for any help that can be provided.
I don’t have a specific brush recommendation for you but here is the link to hundreds of brushes, many of which are free. The ones that are paid have a tag that says “payment-required” next to the post title like this example:
I want to recommend to you a few bundles. You unfortunately need to create an account for the first one on a platform called DeviantArt, but registration is free, and you don’t have to buy anything with them. By the way, beware of uploading art to them, you’ll more or less giving away your rights on your own works!
So, and now to the bundle, it is meant for space paintings, and you may know space means darkness and light, and here this bundle shines in my eyes, and of course it offers nebulae, I guess you will want to make use of them …

Thank you for the reply and links! I‘ve been a member of DA since 2009 and sadly I have already uploaded around 80 images on the site, X( Most of them are Defacing Intellectual Properties but there are a few that were my own original creations. I wish I’d found out sooner but C’est La Vie
