go to settings at the top
then manage resource libraries
click on import
select the brush file you downloaded
(its usually with a .bundle file extension)
it should show up in the list on the left with a box around it
if it doesnt have a box around it, select it and click activate
click close
go to your brush presets docker in the bottom right
your brushes should be there
you might have to click the drop down arrow right below where it says brush presets and select the brushes you downloaded
hope that helps

If you are very new to Krita, it might be better for you to get to know the brushes that come pre-installed in Krita.

And if you are on Windows, be sure to update your tablet driver and turn off Windows Ink in the Krita profile of your tablet’s interface and inside Krita you’ll want to set the driver to WinTab (and not Windows Ink).

Thank you most kindly!!! can i use brushes form other people like Marc Brunet? … also
a went to manage resource libraries it opens my downloads and says theres nothing there

thank you most kindly what dose windows Ink do? i mean will it mess up my pc setings?

Here you have accidentally luck, because there exists a port of that brush set, and I know two other brush sets coming out of the realms of PS that were ported to Krita, but you should visit our forums resource category to find Krita brushes for Krita. You usually don’t buy a Porsche and screw an engine from a Ferrari or Ford Mustang into it.

So here you’ll find the requested Marc Brunet brushes:

And here is the forum topic about this bundle:
MB Starter Pack 2021v4 Recreation for Krita * RE-UPDATED! with Michelist quote in og post*

In the topic Photoshop common brush transfer, with original brush our forum member @Odzuki presented a set of brushes that exactly are what the title says. You can download them from here, since @Odzuki is currently not able to offer them via their own OneDrive:

I don’t know if you know Devin Elle Kurtz, but if you do and like her style of paintings and the brushes she offers, you will like her foliage set ported to Krita.
To download it, you have to follow the description I linked below, because the link on her blog to download these brushes was deleted as the blog was modernized (I guess they simply forgot to put it back online).

DEK (Devin Elle Kurtz) - Foliage & Grass Brushset for Krita by lobabrancrats

The question is what for brushes you want to install, from where do you have them and what for a file type is it (the file name extension would help us too, to help you further).

I’m away for about an hour now, if you can please try to answer my question.

Michelist

i never saw Devin Elle Kurtz But shes amzaing!! how do you follow someone on here?
there from Marc Brunet but there in dropbox
i got his MB Legendary Lineart Brush for clipstudio

and this one wont load to Krita
its name is Starter Brush Pack 2024
and the file type is abr

@lea_lo I highly recommend you stick with brushes that were built for Krita – that means brush packs in the .bundle format, not .abr. If you import an .abr brush, you will only get the brushtip as Krita’s brush engines are not the same as Photoshop’s.

Re your question on Windows Ink, if you are on Windows and don’t know about Windows Ink and tablets, then you probably have not done the setup required for Krita.

Have you already updated your tablet’s driver and were you able to make a Krita profile inside the tablet’s interface? That is where you will turn off Windows Ink and it will not affect any other app on your device.

As @sooz mentioned, and I hinted at, it’s better to use brushes made for Krita in Krita’s own brush format. Krita can load individual brushes in KPP format or whole bundles in BUNDLE format (to some extent these are similar to ABR, but not interchangeable).

We don’t say it to annoy you, but because the ABRs you try to use as a brush, do not work as a brush in Krita! Yep, there are other brush-formats than ABR, and these can be quite good, like Krita’s.

By the way, the terminology around “brushes” may be confusing when you are new to Krita.
The exact name is “brush preset”, not brush, it has the file name extension KPP even those in a BUNDLE have it, and a brush preset in fact is what many falsely name brush, it consists at least out of settings defining the characteristics of that construct you name brush, and it can additionally hold brush tip files, pattern files and masking files. So it comes that ABRs in Krita do not work as brush preset, you can not paint with an ABR alone, you have to rebuild the settings that let it act like the brush you knew from PS.

This means that of all the ABRs you own, you can only use the images of their brush tips in Krita. Krita can not use them as the brush preset you know from PS, CSP, Procreate, etc.
And since it would be so much work to convert these brushes piece by piece into the Krita format KPP, it is better to use the brushes already available for Krita. And there are thousands of them, I myself now have more than 6500.
For a single brush, recreation may be an acceptable task, but you would have to learn how Krita’s brush engines work before you can try to replicate a brush.

So above I have provided you with links to the three sets of brushes that were originally created for PS but have been converted to a format that Krita can use (this is a lot of work and requires a deep understanding of Krita and its brush engines).

For the DEK bundle, you need to download what? Not the ABR from GumRoad but the BUNDLE, as I said in my description, but therefore you have to read that linked topic thoroughly and follow my description, and not go blindly to the GumRoad page I linked only for completeness …

And Marc Brunet brush presets are nothing special, okay they aren’t bad, but Krita has such brush presets too. But okay, if you really want this MB feeling, then you need to download it from my link to ufile.io above, all links in the original topic here in the forum (also linked above) that do not point to the ufile.io-link are not what you need, you need this file:
MB Starter Pack 2021v4.1 Recreation for Krita (repack by Michelist).bundle
And that will work with Krita!

As a replacement for your MB Legendary Lineart Brush(it will not work in Krita), since you like to like line art, you should take a look at these bundles for Krita instead:

Mojo Moo for comics A top of the line bundle.

Sketch V2. (SK2) Pleasure to draw. including colored pencils and blenders Another top of the line bundle.

INK brushes for INKTOBER 2023. Feedback.and final release And the next one.

Expressive Inks bundle brushes for krita 5 These have a free and a paid option, the paid pack consists of more brush presets. Also, two more than wonderful bundles.

Mikhailasmo’s Inking Brush Set This is a legend under a new name and with small updates.

Jarry H. Line brush set And this is its predecessor, that hasn’t lost its magic!

Inked Down Brush pack The next one loved by many.

And these are by far not all bundles for different kinds of line art!
And there are so many more bundles for probably any purpose in our Brushes and Bundles category.

sorry for the late repley … i share this pc with 5 others and theres no grintee when ill be able to get on thank yous all most kindly ill read the repleys just as soon as im done with dinner … i only have an hour on here tonight …

No problem, I’m here almost every day. We can set up your Krita step by step, day by day. Sometimes it takes a little longer for us to respond, because the helpers here at KA are all volunteers and support you in their spare time.

By the way, please tell us the manufacturer of your tablet and the exact name (also referred to as ‘make and model’), this may help us to tell you more precisely where you have to make which setting. Also tell us if you or one of the co-users of your PC already has installed the driver application for your tablet, because without an installed driver you won’t get much out of it. Such a driver is like a translator, it helps to let your PC understand your tablet and vice versa. And without such a driver, Krita will have problems understanding your tablet and they will not work well together.

i just just dated my Xencelabs pen tablet yeasterday as my cuoser was a dot with a lower case t thourw it … its working fine now for that part…imm the only one that usees the pc to draw …for translator, i just use google …thank you most kindly like i said im still new to discort tho i had it a few months i could never figuer it out … and just got krita
i been told i can animate in krita too is this real? … reading on … go i few more mints there wacthing a movie lol… is there a oder i must download all the above for them all to work?
also someone siad something about manage resource libraries but when i click that it just takes me to my downloads …also wicth one on the download page theres 2 listed one says free the other says fast is there a diffrents?

Okay, that is the manufacturer, what is the exact model? They offer more than one model.

Yes, you can do the classic frame by frame animation with Krita. It does not have rigged puppets, if you want to animate a figure like a human or an animal you have to paint them, but many love Krita for this old school approach.

Because of using a translator, if you speak one of the following languages, then please try DeepL.com, it often offers better translations, but offers only these languages:
Arabic
Bulgarian
Chinese
Czech
Danish
Dutch
Estonian
Finnish
French
German
Greek
Hungarian
Indonesian
Italian
Japanese
Korean
Latvian
Lithuanian
Norwegian (bokmål)
Polish
Portuguese
Portuguese (Brazilian)
Romanian
Russian
Slovak
Slovenian
Spanish
Swedish
Turkish
Ukrainian

Please also pay attention to the spelling (in your language), because your texts are difficult to understand despite the translator. This is because a translator has problems with mistakes and abbreviations and dialects/slang are also problematic for translators. The better you stick to “common” language and pay attention to punctuation and write in complete sentences instead of in telegram style, the better a translator can work and the better we can understand you and help you.

If you refer to this:

The paid one has more brushes, but you should try the free to decide if you want the paid one, if you like the free one then it could be worth for you buying the paid bundle.

The reason that Manage Resource Libraries takes you to your Downloads folder is because users normally download the bundles and the individual brushes to their Downloads folder, and if you want to install one of these downloaded resources, most users will find their bundles there for installation.

Now I have to sleep, because it is already 6AM, and I’m tired. Let us talk tomorrow or when you’ll have time the next days.
