Trying to improve my speed when cleaning up sketch and detailing, but this still took me 7 hours of work time total. The final idea itself more or else is done around 2 hours in.
I don’t have any idea what to draw usually, and just open my downloaded images folder or Pinterest and draw from bunch of images that interest me.

Is there a good way to learn drawing a good custom lighting on a character? I’m self-taught and I learn reading value by drawing stuff on the internet, like drawing those marble statue that I see art student do.
But the moment I want to draw my own design, the sketch is usually decent, but the moment I shade it… the result looks less than ideal.

But if you want to improve further, you could send it to Sinix on YouTube. He does art critics and paintovers sometimes.
Or reach out to some other artist you like that is active in social media.

. And yeah I follow some of the big youtube artist, most of my knowledge on drawing come from youtube tutorials. I notice there’s a critique tag. I might do a colored piece and ask people here on how to improve it in the future.

Learning to modify my own drawing’s expression.
This one took 6 hours to draw T_T.
And the alteration took 10 minutes, my guess since every color and value already there, I somehow able to just follow the expression ref really quick.

Expression study continuation, ref is Smoettii from IG. I did a quick paint and try to alter it by imagining the muscle movement. It is somewhat Okay, probably much better if I take my time and search similar expression from similar perspective.
