Proposed Grid and Guides Docker

In 2024 SimonH proposed a Grid and Guides Docker, which I think is a great Idea. I would just like to add to that, by suggesting that the a fore mentioned Docker have Guide Layers so that someone might toggle between different sets of Guides.

The Feature Request you refer to seems to be this one:

It was a proposal to modify/extend the functionality of the existing Grid and Guides docker.

It would be useful to make @Reinold aware of your additional proposal (so I just did that).

Fair Point, but under many circumstances [ Comics, Illustration, Crafts, etc. ] It would be extremely useful for me, and for years I’d wished certain other Programs [ that shall remain nameless ] had something like that. If someone were to go so far as to create a Grids and Guides Docker, why not put layers in it ? no one else ever has.

You’ve made a Feature Request. I’ve added information that will enable people to understand and find more about the background and history of this subject.
I’ve also pinged a developer who was involved in implementing aspects of the previous feature request.

If I may, I would just like to add that; It wouldn’t likely be terribly difficult for someone familiar with code. You could copy what was used for the standard Layers but omit most of the options. All you would really need would be: Opacity, the naming function, the lock feature, and view on and off feature.

the ability to insert and control a Grid would also be nice. … Perhaps A hexagonal Grid option too ?
