PSD's loading corrupted

Having some trouble loading PSD’s

I’ve just got a new PC and installed the latest Krita, on my old PC I used an old version of photoshop, CS6 i think, but was able to transfer between that and krita no problem on that system.

Though when I try to open the PSD’s on the new system in Krita they are corrupted.
It doesn’t seem to be all files though, so i’m not sure what’s causing this.

This is what i’m getting, all the layers are there, but totally messed up

for reference this is a previous saved png of that same file

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
Some of the corrupted images are for my work, so if there’s a fix, or any help at all, I’d be extremely grateful.

Hello @JigglePixel and welcome to the forum

On your new PC, are you using the same version of krita or have you updated it?
Which version number are you using?

This is not an area I’m familiar with but the layer Fx may be causing a problem.
Do you find there are no problems if there are no layer Fx in the .psd file?
What happens if you turn off the layer Fx in krita?

Someone who knows more about this may come along soon. Please be patient.

Try using another file format instead. The PSD file format changes almost with every ps version.

I’ve just set the old system back up and had a look.

It seems that the same files are stuffed on krita there as well :frowning:
They’re opening fine still in PS so the file itself seems okay.

The Krita version there is 5.1.1, and def CS6.

I checked a few other files, it doesnt seem to be layer fx or amount of layers either, as I have one thats only 3 layers with no fx and thats stuffed, but have found one thats many layers with FX thats completely fine, so it’s got me stumped.

The only thing i can maybe think of is the ones that are okay are a bit older? not sure how that would change things though.

Thanks for the suggestions, fingers crossed i can work it out.

Just set up the old system and tried saving one as a TIF

It worked!!

Gonna be annoying going through each file and saving as TIF but at least theres a solution.

Thank you :grinning:
