Puppet warp tool

Good morning,

First of all thank you for your work and the great software that is krita. You have done a fantastic job!

I wanted to ask you if you think it would be possible to integrate the puppet warp into your krita software, obviously I would fully understand that it is not feasible because of possible constraints!

It’s a kind of retopology / warp tool much more sophisticated. I put you links below:

Clip studio paint :

Thank you very much!

Do you think that your request would in principle fit into these already existing feature requests, which in principle could also be merged, at least for my understanding and the many points they have in common? This would bundle the power and votes of all three into one topic. This would bundle the power and votes of all three into one topic.
By the way, a simple search for “puppet” in the “Feature Requests” category would have returned these results as well.

These are different functions, since puppet wrap does not need a 3D model, it is more like an additional function to the transformation tool.

Then, of course, my interpretation seems to be wrong.
I’m curious to see what will be the end of this request.
But isn’t it so, that Krita then has to know about the thing or body and how it is interconnected like said puppets, simply speaking? Wow, interesting, I’ll try to follow this discussion, to see where this will end.

If the nodes of the Transform → Warp (Draw mode) in Krita could be rotated, it looks like we could get something pretty similar:

Then it would get really cool. Thank you for this enlightening video!

I forgot that such a tool exists!
But still, it is not so good now
I recorded a video where I deform a dog in the same document in Krita and in Photoshop for comparison

Thank you for the video, it’s a great document. To rotate the tail this way, the ‘cage’ transformation of Krita might be a little bit better. But nothing compare to what Photoshop can achieve with smoothness here. Impressive!

This type of mesh distortion Photoshop can do reminds me what 3D software do with their UV-mapping tools, when unwrapping. It looks useful.

Also, I forgot on Krita how slow was the “Preview: Accurate” setting by default.

I think this function is very similar to what programs like Live2D and Inochi do.

Just found an open source python lib, but I am not a developer so I don’t know if it is useful.

Yes live2ds implementation would be the best way about it.

Even though krita has many ways to transform things like a puppet tool already. Having control on the mesh construction is important to make sure the deformation is correct with the methods it already has.

But the pin idea is really easy to use but if your at that stage might as well make rigs a thing already.
