Python plugins and Extreme Lag!

I’m no techie at all … but might the plugin be conflicting with any wacom shortcut key assigned to the “express keys”?

@wojtryb
I did some testing and it cuts my Canvas frame rate in half roughly. I am usually on 90-130 and I am cut to 60-40 with this plugin. my brush fps seems pretty much the same.

I can work still but i do feel the weight of it over me it is a bit of a odd feeling. Personally I like the concept of the plugin but my need is not as great enough to fight the lag to get myself used to it.

I have been trying out “Install Event Filters” for Tela to make its new features and I have not much success with it and due to the same reasons as it slows down my system way too much to be usable. Maybe it is because of my system I never liked that path to make stuff happen but the python API is so short sometimes :frowning:

Thank you for testing!

I never had to consider this performance drop, but it’s good to know that using this features has such a big impact.

I guess there isn’t much I can do with it - I’m not able to code anything similar in C++ anyway (especially with keyboard shortcuts/canvas inputs being a bit o a mess), and at least on my side the plugin does it’s job.

It’s a pity it may not be usable on lower end machines. I guess I’ll have to test if it has some impact on using big brushes (I’ve been using it for a lot of time, and maybe just got used to this slowdown)

Ok so it’s not just me then … obviously I feel it more because I’m working on an ancient piece of hardware. Thanks yes for testing.
Crazy how such a simple thing to temporarily toggle a tool can have such an impact on the whole performance. Well crazy to me, as again I know nothing about coding, but guess it is what it is.

Sorry, this post, contributes only in part to the topic, so is off-topic, but tries to answer honestly the “bold question.”

I put the text in bold for various reasons. Not all of them are up to you.

It is put in bold because I also have another problem at the moment that has nothing to do with the forum, Krita or your PC. I’m really scared shitless. I need a surgeon and urgent surgery, but because of the pandemic the hospitals are full, I am sitting on packed suitcases and waiting for an operation date. A recurring ulcer is growing massively and is about to burst. It’s easy to miss something and get irritated.

I wrote the text in bold, because I already listed all the possibilities to you, and also paraphrased several times that it is not worth to reanimate an animal that died hours ago, just because it is possible. The brain is gone. I don’t like to say to someone I don’t know, you should change your computer quickly, maybe this person is as destitute as I am. Something like that can hurt.
Quotes:

Then four days ago, in “Krita 5 laggy perforance - Windows 10”, it was about your WINDOWS SYSTEM, and my advice there referred to that, but there I had also already asked you to tell me how much space you have left with Krita running:

The screenshot was there from you, nothing more.

That was another reason to put it in bold, and the next follows.

Here we are now on Linux, well. After your question, in post 9, what you could do to improve your performance, I brought the theoretical possibility of a second SSD into play, only then you came out with it that there is still an HDD.

In my answer, in post 14, I wrote that it makes little sense to upgrade your notebook ↑↑, and I also wrote that you could use a second SSD for more data as well ↓.
Quote:

furthermore, however, I also wrote:

To point out, you better save your money for a new PC.

I had to vent my displeasure in order not to burst, was another reason to write in bold.

And I don’t know why, but it seemed to me that you want me to tell you to do this or that and your system will speed up.
Would you like to have someone to whom you can say, if this is inaccurate, you gave me bad advice?
I can only say in certain cases an SSD will bring something, overall it will remain marginal with your actual hardware.

Another disk can support a system, especially if the system has to swap a lot and often and the disk is fast (SSD), I deliberately provoked and tested something like that. I have also intentionally scarce storage space so that collisions including Blue Screen of Death occurred when Krita tried to address SSD space that was no longer available.
In such situations, with little memory, lots of swap activity and fast SSD’s, a system is very likely to be faster, but overall performance increases only minimally, with such outdated hardware as yours. It’s a constant if/then, an eternal back and forth.

About “Cosmetic”:
The word “cosmetic”, in this context, is (or at least it used to be) a euphemism, a figure of speech, to make something “look better”. Only a car does not go faster if I put a new spare wheel in the trunk, there is only a little more certainty to still reach a destination (and you do not kiss better when you are made up, cosmetics belie something).

Michelist, who is also only human.

So, it’s late, I’m tired and hope to have made few mistakes in translating.

Hi
Firstly I’m sorry about your health situation and hope it sorts out soon and well. It’s challenging times for many, including myself.

Honestly I really appreciated your input, however there was and is no commitment from you to do so or spend a lot of time explaining anything you don’t wish to, so don’t stress yourself out.
I TRULY do not want anyone assisting me if they feel “displeasure” or are irritated in any way. I’d rather then not have any help at all.

I have in no way seeking someone to tell me to “do this or that” and yes I’m aware what you meant by “cosmetic” and again I surely have no interest in that as again what’s the point in have a cosmetic pc unless you’re probably 10!

I’m NOT techie by nature, I am new to both linux, windows 10 (had been using windows 7 till late), and new to linux.
All this stuff is very fresh and often confusing and yes I am hguman to and often don’t connect the dots from one issue to another … I’m arty by nature and not techie!
I am also under huge pressures and life challenges, so often I might overlook, forget or just not catch on and connect the dots as quickly as many others might!
But I try the best I can to understand and learn.

So please I beg you do not respond or try to assist if it in any way irritates you or bothers you. Rather just ignore my ignorance on this whole tech thing.

Again, I hope all works out for you.
