Hi, I’ve been drawing in Krita on my graphics tablet for a while now, but I have to leave soon for my studies and don’t have the option to take it with me. I wanted to get an android tablet but I don’t know which one to choose.
Do any of you use the android version of Krita? What tablet are you using for it? Can you share your impressions and describe the problems you encountered while using it? Thanks in advance.
(I am using a translator and my text may seem strange )
I can not tell you which tablet to buy for the future, but depending on the interface of the tablet you currently use, you can buy a TransFlash-Card/SD-Card or USB-Stick of sufficient space to copy your works over to this USB-Stick or TransFlash-Card/SD-Card. This measure allows you to save your works made so far to that stick/card, so you can take them with you even if you should not have a new tablet when you leave.
So you can still look for an Android tablet even if you have already left the school/organization.
Maybe you ask in advance, in the IT-Department of your organization/school, if the interfaces (USB, Memory Card Slots) of your device are accessible and not disabled (some put glue into the interfaces or disable them otherwise), and perhaps ask them for a sufficient card/stick to buy, theoretically they should know their devices best.
You should look into one of the samsung galaxy S tablets.
The most value for your money you get by buying s6 fe(2024), the best drawing experience will you get by buying the s ultra tablets, because of the screen size and the power it has.
I do most of my artwork from my Samsung Galaxy Tab s9 Ultra. If money isn’t a huge issue, I would stick with the Samsung line if you want to do artwork on it. The only real struggle I run into is with the lack of updates for Krita on the Android platform (just an issue with having people available in the know working on the technical side of things).
But if you don’t need all the extra bells and whistles (i.e. a text tool), and just use it for painting and drawing, you shouldn’t run into too many problems. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my Krita experience on my tablet.
Let me know if you have any specific questions and I’ll be happy to try and answer anything I can.
I use Krita on a Samsung Galaxy S8 Tab Ultra. It’s absolutely brilliant and I was able to get it at a much cheaper price than the S9 ultra. The screen size is ideal for drawing, Krita is very responsive, and the touch gestures are really highly configurable.
I’ve been able to map the quick palette, undo, redo, rotate canvas, zoom canvas, and enter/leave fullscreen mode to touch gestures and they work perfectly.
Edit: I was also able to map the S Pen button and get S Air actions following this post’s advice:
Palm rejection is also very good.
The app very occasionally crashes, but with Krita’s autosave feature set to autosave regularly, I’ve never lost a significant amount of work.
