It looks quite similar to a popular German variety, the “Kasseler-Brot”, and I would certainly have liked to take it with me if I had come across it at the bakery.

But since you’re showing a little self-criticism, your bread can quickly be given a different appearance with minimal adjustments. As an example, I have placed three different wood patterns in different shades underneath, cropped the bread and indicated a drop shadow.
As I didn’t like the color of the upper pattern, I added a gradient overlay to adjust it. It took less than five minutes to do all this and select the patterns.

You just have to know how to sell yourself bread

The question is always, what did you want to achieve? As you say, it’s your first attempt at a portrait, and for that it’s really okay. :+1:
And I’ve seen other pictures where I’ve congratulated the artist on his great zombie, it just didn’t go down so well, but he’d forgotten to call it a portrait and his first attempt, simply presented as a new picture. :man_facepalming:

For a first portrait that is very good. You have the proportions, placements and main shadows more or less right.
