adding a little more complexity to portrait sketch by learning a little about gesture
now i know why artists draw nak*d body, to see all the muscles and tension created by the body in different position.
still have difficulty in envisioning the broken down circle/ cyclinders/ square of the body, but it’s a start
Body sketch total ~ 32 mins
Thought i do a little review of the portrait sketches i did so far
i see some improvements but i felt that it is more of happy accidents. A test of stroke or dab turn into ‘ohhh that looks good’. CTRL-Z and saying “again” have been constant companion. need to practice moreeeee

All done using one single brush for all the sketches done 1/5-3/5. I also started to flip and adjust my drawings for the 3/5 sketches.
I do used reference from pexels, but they never turn out like the models. maybe tiny bits and pieces, then i started to go beyond the pictures, and draw what feels good ![]()
all comments, feedback and critique is welcome and appreciated.

aiming my next desktop to be fully linux
been a little busy and not sure what to draw for practice
a little browsing of pexels, a little playing around with paper and texture, turn into a neon dragon fruit

neon fruit sketch ~ 24 mins
It’s on psychedelic fire!
What do you use to make the paper texture? Is it a hard light with an image?
it’s one of krita’s default paper pattern, i set it to multiply following some tutorial.

Great color choices. Nothing against the photo but I think your drawing is more alive than the photo.
lip and face ~52mins
i pick those colors myself, not from photos. I stop picking colors from photos since i started drawing and painting freehand around end of December, i love the challenge
try to limit my color pallete but i end up picking from the wheel
painting with a black canvas seem to help with sculpting the face feature a little better…maybe? ![]()
time to learn more on layer mask so the face don’t puff up
or it is just poor color choice on the left cheek ![]()
