Hey, this is my first post here so I hope is in the right place. But I’m struggling with finding the same brushes that can work for both Procreate and Krita. I can’t find anything online about it. So I hope someone here has some sort of advice on it.
So here is the thing, we, my friend and I, are starting a webtoon together, and we’re both drawing and coloring everything together, passing files and all that. But he works on Procreate and I on Krita, and we can’t find the same brushes for both of us to keep a consistent work.
Krita’s brushes don’t work in Procreate and vice versa, at least usually. That was the bad message, the good message is, there is something in the works that can tear the wall between the programs down.
But that will not be a full conversion, it will only be as near as technically possible: WIP Brush Conversion Scripts: .brush, .abr, .sut to Krita .kpp, so far I have not tested it, but it is at least a neat idea that may help users to adapt brushes they love as good as technically possible to Krita. If you know, that not long ago this was considered as impossible, then you may understand how great it is.
But if you think you can only achieve something specific with brush XYZ, then this statement is inaccurate in well over 90% of cases. You simply haven’t found the brush in Krita that offers exactly what you’re looking for, or that offers what you’re looking for with minimal adjustments.
Furthermore, the artist and their ability to use their own tools are important for most of the appearance of an image, otherwise there would be no masterpieces by artists who work exclusively with one or at most two brushes. In their case, an image is created from the skills of those who use a brush; the brush itself is secondary.
It’s great that the work’s being done, really quite a surprise
And of course Procreate is in beta 5.4 with brush engine updates etc (loads of Kyle Webster’s new brushes on the way there)
Hope you find something that suits OP, the style you both have will effect the differences of course, everyone has different libe weighting etc, but unless you’re using very specific textures I think once you have studied the resources offered by Krita here most line work & filling you should be able to approximate between yourselves.
I’ve no idea what your comic looks like, maybe if textures from brushes are important you might be able to compromise a bit & have masked layers full of the texture that you both share & reveal using more neutral looking brushes?
The thing is that we’re using a very cartoony style, a lot of texture on the brushes. So hopefully we’ll find something that can help with the brushes. But if there’s not a good solution we can probably figure something else, yours is actually a good suggestion that I’ll bring up to him. Thank you!
Have you already looked into our forum’s category Brushes and Bundles? There you can find tons of brushes for nearly every need, and there are also some resources that were not posted so far on Krita Artists, since their creators probably don’t know this forum exists.
These here for instance: ABluSkittle’s Free Krita Brush Collection - 2025
