Has anyone tested animation audio? It was also a highlight of this release that there will be a new backend ā€œMLTā€ for animation so audio support should be better.

I have tried Andriod beta versions of Kita a few times on a Samsung S9 tablet but each time Krita crashes randomly within a few minutes. It appears to crash without any high demands on the system, i.e. Krita is the only program running, default canvas and brush sizes, only two layers etc. I can’t pinpoint any particular action that causes the crashes. So I thought there may be some general advice on things to consider (Android settings for example) that might help avoid crashes when trying Android beta versions (or links to some help on the subject).
Many thanks if you are able to help.

@Kev_Bell Sorry that is happening. It would be important to state the version # of Krita that is crashing. You can get the version by selecting Help > About Krita. The number will be in the upper right corner.

When it crashes, what happens? Does your tablet shut down?

Thanks for replying. I’ve deleted the version installed on my Samsung S9 tablet but this is the file I installed: ā€˜krita-arm64-v8a-5.2.0-prealpha-nightly-unsigned (1).apk’. After Krita crashes there are no problems with the Andriod operating system. I’m able to restart the beta version 5.2 of Krita but within minutes it crashes again. I can reinstall the latest 5.2 nightly unsigned if you think it would be helpful.

@Kev_Bell I moved our comments over to the thread where we’re capturing 5.2 testing results.

If you happen to reload the 5.2 newer Beta (and not the 5.1.5 from the Google Play Store) and have the same results, please grab the entire version # for reporting purposes. You can always get it from Help > About Krita. It will appear in the upper right corner of the Krita splash artwork.

Thanks for testing.

I think I have found a bug in Krita. I can’t open any animation files with audio. Anytime I try to open those kind of files, Krita loads, freezes, then closes. This only occurs with animation files with audio because I can open animation files without audio just fine. I can also open drawing files. The animation files I’m trying to open aren’t big files either, the animations I’ve done without audio are actually much bigger.

also, if there’s a way to fix this problem, I’d really appreciate it

Did you mean the 5.2 second beta? If yes, we can move this into the thread where we’re capturing 5.2 testing results.

Looks like it’s fixed already:

The commit doesn’t mention a bug report though, so I guess there was none.

Hi @Kev_Bell

Krita beta and nightly crashing is a known issue which has been reported. It seems it is crashing exclusively on samsung tabs. You can contribute to the bug report too.

Here is the link

The play store version is working as intended
