Strange micro-freeze when drawing with H1060P

Type of device* : Tablet
Brand and version of the device: Huion H1060P
System** : Windows 10

I used Krita with the same tablet for a while before getting a new pc, but now I get a strange freezing every time I start a line, almost like it gets stuck for a second. It doesn’t appear to happen in other software, and I don’t remember it happening in my old pc (nor do I think I had to set up any settings for the tablet either)

Any ideas what might be going on? Thanks.

Reddit post with a reference video of the issue

Hello and welcome to the forum

It’s not clear what’s happening with the straight lines in the video.
Can you try this with quickly drawn circles?

I think this has been seen and reported before and you’ll get a straight line segment at the start of the circle or whatever curve you draw.

On your new PC, you may have a different driver settings, possibly a different driver version, maybe different krita settings.

Did you try swapping between Wintab and Windows-Ink as suggested in the reddit post?

I can’t see the freeze.

There is a minimal lag at the beginning of each stroke, it is good to recognize on the second stroke.

Hello everyone!

In addition to @AhabGreybeard’s suggestions, you could check if you can get your tablet to work properly with Krita by following the steps described below.

I am also using a HUION H1060P with Windows 10 and the then latest Krita since February, and at the beginning it also had exactly this problem. What I did to fix the problem:

  1. in the Krita settings under > Settings > Configure Krita > Tablet settings, select the “WinTab” radio button. See screenshot 1.

  1. check the driver of the graphic tablet, using the tablet software, to make sure it is up to date and update it if a new driver is available. See also the descriptions in the screenshots 2, 3, 4, 5.

ATTENTION!!! > Unusually, the tablet software found a driver that was more recent (newer) than the (supposedly) “newest driver” offered on HUION’s website!?

So if the existence of a newer driver is shown there, please download this driver and install it as it is described there by HUION.

btw.: Regarding the screenshots: I don’t use English Windows, so some things look a little different. But they are the same functions.

  1. afterwards I deselected / turned off all operating system internal Windows-Ink-Settings as far as possible (fortunately I have no use for this function).
The fastest way to find the Windows Ink settings is probably to use the Windows search, just search for “Windows Ink” there. In the Screenshots 6, 7, 8 you can see my settings.

The last two checkboxes had no effect on the way my Krita installation worked, whether selected or not, so I left it unchecked.

Now I wish you good luck and hope that the “Strange micro freeze when drawing with H1060P” is also fixed for you.
