Not a fan of overly post processing stuff, only thing here is paper texture on top. Also not a fan of using blending modes besides multiply for shadows but overlay for all the surface patterns works quite well, and avoids the need to try and match the exact color of the surfaces if a blending mode was not used.
experimenting with stippling, using Dotwork/Stippling Brush and then a spray engine brush. Also used tombofnull on last image.
A satisfying method is to paint an area with a solid black, group it and add an erase layer above, then apply fine and dense stippling to remove value until it looks appropriate.
Similar thing is done with solid white, then transparency mask added, then cleared and stippling applied to make the light appear. Both these done on the last image.

interesting how an outline can feel more like a rimlight if parts are faded and bright spots added
was watching geowizard’s latest mission across manchester while doing this
havent drawn much recently. this stuff from today and yesterday
This probably sounds weird but Ive been trying to increase the canvas size in a consistent way, but kind of get stuck after a certain point, because if i add more detail to the “line art” it will look blurry and will need to be heavily diminished, painted over (so no line art), or redone at a higher level of detail.
I am succeeding though with not zooming in past 100% and having fewer layers + flattening more often (more destructive changes).
Despite that I think this looks nice, I picked a region on a previous picture to give lots of detail to. Kinda. Trying to use desaturated shading in the shadows to make the background pop. Colorizing the lineart early helps incorporate it too.
