Taking The Dive Into Digital Art

Hey there! I’m a writer and illustrator. I’ve been working with traditional media for years-I’ve been using Prismacolor pencils for ages. Last year, I bought an M3 MacBook Pro (18 gigs of RAM, 1 TB SSD) and have jumped down the rabbit hole of digital art. I’ve been teaching myself Affinity Photo, DaVinci Resolve, Blender-and I’m now trying to learn Krita. In a couple of weeks, I’ll be buying an M4 iPad Pro-13 inch, 256 gigabytes of storage. I use two Huion tablets: the H1161 and the Kamvas 13 Gen 3. The recent digital work I’ve done has been in Affinity Photo, but I’m keen to learn as much about Krita as possible-which is why I’m here. I’m watching some tutorial videos-and currently, I’m trying to learn about blending colors. :slightly_smiling_face:

I do primarily portraits. My work is expressionistic in nature. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @2112st - Welcome!

This is a great place to learn about Krita.

If you have any questions, make a post in one of the support categories. You’ll find a lot of helpful people here.

 Hello @2112st, and welcome to the forum!

Sorry, but the first thing I have to do is to disappoint you, but unfortunately you put together a few things that are unwanted here and prohibited by our rules, and additionally you did choose the wrong category to say hello, for which we already have an own topic.
But let’s start with the beginning. You posted works not done with Krita, which is prohibited by our Code of Conduct.

Code of Conduct
Where you can read under the paragraph
General Expected Behaviour and Actions
Point:
9. Post Only Artwork Done With Krita

Since this is a Krita forum you may not post anything that is not done in Krita or at least used Krita as complementary tool for example while doing a 3D artwork with blender. The majority of the work should be done in Krita. There is an exception for Traditional category, where you can post artwork done only with traditional mediums.

This means, you have to remove your pictures from this topic, or if you don’t know how to edit your topic, then we will do it for you.

The next thing is that your self introduction, as nice as it is, is not a request for support, and therefore does belong into the category general to where I moved it, instead of your choice General Questions - Krita Artists in our support area.
And because we have a topic named Introduce yourself! 🎙️ which is only dedicated for, you can guess, self introductions, I’m asking our moderation team to merge your topic with our dedicated topic meant for postings like yours.
@sooz, @Takiro, @tiar, @wolthera, @raghukamath, would you be so kind to merge this topic with our self introduction-topic please? Thank you.

To be able to post your self introduction, you were forced to choose a tag which, if you look at it a little laid back, did absolutely not fit the tenor of your topic, as well as the category you had chosen for this. This should have told you, that you are doing something that does not belong to the place you had chosen. Ah, I just see one of our moderators and so I’ll end here.

Hi Michelist!

Sorry about that. I went to the Introduction section, but the last posting there looks like it was done in 2022. So I wasn’t sure if that was the right spot.

Oh, believe me, I’ll have questions as I dive into this software. :joy: :upside_down_face:

I think so, Krita is nothing you master in a day.

I just have again adjusted the topic a little, since your first picture was done using traditional media, which I misinterpreted since your pencils are unknown to me, it can stay in the topic for traditional media works where I moved this, but your triptych has to be removed, a picture done in Affinity Photo does in no way qualify to be posted in this forum.

Michelist-not a problem. I’m currently studying the various ways you can blend colors on the canvas in Krita. Fascinating, very cool stuff. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Huge respect for anyone who draws with colored pencils. That kind of media is really difficult, at least for me.

croissant,

I consider myself the perpetual student. There’s always something new to learn. Creativity is my happy place. It’s not just about creating art; it’s learning new methods, new points of view-and something creative being difficult to learn doesn’t discourage me-quite the opposite. It ignites a roaring fire in me. I get enthusiastic about the challenge and jump into the deep end of the pool. That’s how you learn-be fearless, make mistakes and keep working at it. over and over again.

This is how you grow as an artist. There are no short-cuts. :slightly_smiling_face:
