Toolkit by Draneria

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all having a lovely 2025 so far :space_invader:
This is a set of utilities for making 3D paint effects, to compliment your normal brushes.

:magic_wand: Features :magic_wand:

  • Introducing the Sandpaper Rub, the worlds-first RGBA eraser!!
  • Add universal RGBA to any brushstroke.
  • You can also flatten paint that you have thickened.

Using filters to make paint look 3D is nothing new e.g. emboss and heightmaps. However! I find these more convenient. They also give you better control, and who doesn’t want more of that in life✨

⊰-⊱

:gear: How to Use :gear:

Think of them like precision filters -

  1. Paint as you would normally
  2. Use a toolkit brush on top to add RGBA
  3. “Sandpaper Rub” works like any other eraser!

They are also experimental - especially the paint flatten effect. Your mileage may vary

:bulb: Extra Notes :bulb:

I think the eraser is a unique solution for having a brush that can be affected by the texture of your brushstrokes. In this case, through the filter engine via edge-detection. It’s not perfect, but it’s certainly interesting (to me anyway) xD

As for adding universal RGBA, I think the “height” one has the most realistic result, although its subtle. Lock transparency with that brush!

  • In the example above, I used “Wet Large Old Brush” from @cloomsDry & Dirty” Bundle, which I think is absolutely fantastic for traditional effects!
  • The brush used to demonstrate “Sandpaper Rub” is Memileo’s lovely impastos, WIP version.
  • In the poster, I used “Dra) Acrylic; Brush - Basic” from here.

Thank you for reading (´。• ᵕ •。`) I thought it might be nice to put together something small as I work on Metallics 2.0 and Acrylics, even if these are specialised. Still, I hope you enjoy!

Thanks for these, the push & pull of the thickening etc seems very interesting!
Used them over this sketch I made with Memilio brushes (the small set not light or performance iirc)

That is gorgeous!!! This is exactly the kind of things I was hoping to see, thank you for sharing🔥May I add this to my ko-fi gallery? (with credits*) I struggled to find a good way of demonstrating the effect and that mug does it really well xD

Yes sure, if you feel it shows well enough happy for it to go there :+1: - here’s the pre-Toolkit version for reference:

Thanks again!

This is such handy bundle, @Draneria
Congrats and thanks for all the material you contribute.

I’m always using Edge Detection through the filters. Nice to have at the brushes now, a lot more convenient.

Have a great weekend, mate.
All the best to you and keep doing this amazing work.

Thank you Tomoha! It means the world and I’m glad I’m not the only one who is tired of wrangling with filters haha

@Teapics Thank you, it has been posted! https://ko-fi.com/draneria/gallery#galleryItemView

(Since your profile is set to hidden, I didn’t add a direct link to you in the credits! DM me if you have a link for me to add, or would like anything changed \╭◜◝ ᵕ ◜◝╮/)

:+1: I’m never quite sure what the settings mean, I guess you guys logged in can see my profile here but it won’t show from a random Google search or to someone not logged in?

Anyway, will be sure to post more with these next week, cheers.

I’m not 100% sure on that one either, all I know is that if I click your portfolio - it is hidden! Right now I think you can see it and no one else, but sometimes people leave it “unhidden” so other Krita forum users can see their portfolio/recent activity.

Theres no right or wrong setting but I hope that helps xD and I look forward to it! Have a lovely evening✨
