Unable to Create New Swatch Groups

Hello everyone,

I’m brand new to these forums, I hope this is the right channel for reporting the issue I’m having!

When I try to create a new Swatch Group using the Palette Editor, the new group does not persist.

I’m trying to use the following method: Edit current palette (the grid icon on the Palette Docker) > Add a swatch group

This gives me the option to give the new group a name and specify a number of rows. I’m able to do this, press OK, and the group appears in the ‘Swatch group:’ drop-down menu, found in ‘Swatch Group options’ on the right side of the Palette Editor. But when I click OK to dismiss the Palette Editor window, the new group doesn’t materialise in the Docker. Re-opening the Palette Editor, the group is no longer listed in the menu.

I’m using Void Linux (glibc, x86_64) and the Krita 5.2.0 AppImage.

Do you try to edit an existing palette or a new one you created? I had issues in the past that changes weren’t saved due to permission issues with the palette files.

I first tried creating a new custom palette with the .KPL extension and making groups within that. I’ve also tried with the ‘Save Palette in the Current Document’ option and that hasn’t worked either, unfortunately.

My Krita AppImage is stored in ~/.local/bin but I don’t really know where the resources would be kept? I presume these would also be stored somewhere in the home directory.

edit: Seems the palettes folder is in ~/.local/share/krita/palettes which ought not to be a problem?

Hi! Just popping in here to say I have the same issue in Windows.

I made this post about it and the general consensus seems to be that it’s a bug. The report has been made, and this baby has risen as a workaround in the meantime.

Hope it helps!
