Uploading image problem

hello am trying to upload sketches for a sketchbook on the forum but i keep getting this message:

Sorry, the image with filename**.jpg is too large (maximum dimension is 9 megapixels), please resize it and try again.

I don’t get it the file is 300 ko. And dimension is A5 i don’t understand.

In this topic the issue was that the file was a PDF:

Could it be a wrong error message due to an unrecognized format?
Kind of not a real JPG… IDK

It’s a jpeg from krita and made with it

Tried with png?

Not yet I will later. But png is bigger than jpeg no? I thought jpeg was compressed so less big. And png is more raw file so bigger

Depends, by how much it can be compressed [EDIT: I mean without loosing too much quality], is better to test it.

I have checked “Also save your image as a Krita file” in Export window and it generates also a *.jpg.kra every export, did you unintentionally try to upload the .jpg.kra file?

(sorry for these questions, I’m trying everything :face_with_hand_over_mouth: )

I don’t think so but I can’t verify it right now. I’ll see tomorrow .
I was thinking is it 9 megapixel available cumulated for one message or per image downloaded into one message?

I think this is a question for @Michelist :slightly_smiling_face:

Is this A5 in 600DPI? Because a 600DPI A5 is 4960 by 3508 pixels or 17,39968 megapixels in size, and that would be too large for the forum.

Is the 9 megapixel forum limit per message or per image?

It is the latter, it is per image.

I know the topic is solved but the file dimensions are independent from the file size (also sometimes called file weight nowadays, probably because of the confusion) to some extend, depending on the compression. You can create a few kilobytes large jpg file that still is huge in dimensions if you play the algorithm right (although it probably wouldn’t have anything in it that is pleasant for the human eye to see).

I would expect someone who uses ko instead of kb or kib to know this.
