Using patterns as PS pattern stamp tool

I’m still figuring out Krita brushes and mechanics, so apologize if this comes across as silly. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to use patterns in the same way to Photoshop’s Pattern Stamp Tool. Video for reference about the topic: Make Your Life Easier with these Photoshop Digital Painting Techniques - YouTube

I tried making small images as brushtips; using the clone tool; using the brushtip with a different engine (smudge). Still no satisfactory results. Did i overlook or miss something? Any ideas how could this work?

Thanks in advance, and also thanks for all the effort this community has put in this software and its growth. I’ve been spending less and less time with PS open in my PC, thanks to all the great content being produced here.

Hi @Tamoha - Welcome!

I don’t have time to watch the PS video but I thought you’d be interested in Krita’s brush making series that was released recently.

There are 4 parts – here’s the first one:

There are these tutorial videos too:

I’d recommend watching the entire series of those krita tutorial videos if you’re new to krita.

Thanks @AhabGreybeard and @sooz for shining some directions. Much appreciate it!

I think i found a way, however, it requires to save a pattern as PAT. Once done, its possible to select “Pattern”, under “Colour → Source” settings in the brush editor (only to pixel and shape engines)

To “paint” with a pattern, that specific pattern has to be saved in PAT format and selected in the Global Patterns. (set to be “Predefined” in the “Fill Patterns” button, on the “Brushes and Stuff” bar) I can make a small tutorial, would that be okay?

Any tutorial you make would be helpful for people so please go for it with a topic in the Resources Tutorials category
